Hi. I'm Sigrid, retired, living with my husband in northern Michigan. I have two grown daughters, and was able to home school the youngest until Graduation.
I enjoy working with my hands, especially paper crafts. I also look forward to Spring every year when I can grow our vegatables. I do canning and some food preservation on a small scale.
My husband and I enjoy volunteer work through our local church, and at a Hospitality House that cooks and serves home made meals to those who are in stressful situations. We also volunteer in the nursery on Saturday nights at church. I love holding the babies and praying over them and all the children in there. We don't have grandchildren and my husband has never had children so it's a blessing for him to interact with youngsters. He is growing through serving them and it's a wonderful sight to see.
In my off-time I enjoy making beeswax candles (from our bees), however I do not like bee or honey related things sent to me.
I really enjoy swapping on Swap-bot. Some swappers are so talented and create unique items that go up on my "Inspiration Wall" in my craft room. It brings me so much joy to look at all your inspiring art, letters, post cards, etc... -- well, it just warms my heart, and I appreciate that I get to look at your beautiful things whenever I'm crafting. Thank you!
My niche is vintage French Shabby Chic. My favorite things to make are journals. I like stickers and die cuts are vintage french roses. Ephemera, sari silk, antique ribbon and laces, beaded lace, tea stained papers, fussy cut flowers, old Germany die cuts, Victorian die cuts. Vintage DELICATE fabrics and laces.
I love making junk journals in the french shabby chic style along with snippet strips, belly bands, book markers in the same theme style.
I also enjoy mushroom hunting in northern Michigan. So far, I have nearly reached my "bucket list" of edible mushrooms. The most evasive is the Chanterelle! And I'm still on the hunt for that. It will be a happy and sad time for me when I do find it because there will no other edibles left to find that I haven't already. But still, it's so fun to find and eat them.
Bucket List: Morel (of course), Lion's Main, Puff Ball, Chicken of the Woods, Turkey Tail, Oyster, and Beef Steak and lastly, "Chantarelle", where are you???
Sometimes "life" happens and circumstances out of our control. So, if there's ever a problem please let me know, and I will do the same for you.
I do my best to rate the day your item arrives. You deserve to know that I received your item, time and effort, your gift/craft. I hope you do the same for me, and everyone.
It's a common mistake for people to think that my name is Penny Treasures based on my email address. I get lots of mail and messages addressing me as Penny LOL. It's okay and I'm not offended, just thought I'd share how I acquired the handle and hopefully you will see why.
25 years ago, my late husband and I, (I remarried later), used to Metal Detect every weekend and on holiday. Oh, the amazing things he would find with his detector on land and in the waters! I would find the junk or the occasional costume jewelry, but always pennies, always.
One day, I became discouraged while we were out. I started to grumble under my breath while thinking "what's the use"? Then I heard an internal voice which I believed to be the Holy Spirit saying "Look where you are! Look around you." So I did, and realized the beauty of the forest all around me. The sound of birds, squirels running amuck, the fresh air and sunshine, and the absolute quiet and beauty of everything around me.
My heart changed and I decided that the pennies were worth finding, and that the real treasure was in the journey, being with my love, and not so much the finding. I became very content and at peace ever after that. I changed my email to PennyTreasures to remind myself of that day.
Well, I hope you found it interesting :)
