I enjoy all kinds of fibery pursuits--knitting, spinning, sewing, quilting, embroidery, and trying anything at least once! I am particularly fond of bird and owl images. I also love vintage fabrics. Blues and browns are favorite colors of mine. I love books and homeschool our three children, who are ages 16, 15 and 13. I also help run a non-profit with my husband.
I enjoy a broad range of fiber crafts. I have been sewing since I was a little girl and embroidering as well. I like to learn how to do everything crafty at least once. I spend most of my crafty time right now knitting and learning to spin on my spinning wheel. I sew quite often, though, too.
I read broadly. Right now I am reading a number of books on urban farming because I am trying to get a garden going in our little city back yard. Also in my stack to read are cookbooks, "Glory Cloak" (a novel about Louisa May Alcott), and "A Long Way Gone". Favorites include anything by Jane Austen. I have a hard time choosing as I read serially according to my current interest--usually something to do with history, how other people live, or just fun fiction.
Latest favorite movies include "Bright Star", "The Young Victoria" and "North and South" (based on the novel by Elizabeth Gaskell). I am partial to BBC period dramas.
