Vacation, party, and wedding done, sick baby on the mend, I'm catching up and should be, (hopefuly), completly caught up on everything by the middle of July. Thanks for your paitence folks! I'm a heavily tattooed, obsessive knitter and sewer who has more wool and fabric than some small countries. I have a young son who is the best, (Cameron, 20 mo), and an ex who is thankfully several provinces away. Remember girls, nothing says 'I love you' quite like 'I'm going to kill you'.
I love swing, big band, female jazz/blues vocalists( Ella, Billie, Big Mama Thornton, Etta James, Dinah Washington, etc) Edith Piaf, Eartha Kitt, The Andrews Sisters, Simon and Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, Yan Tiersen, Leftover Crack, Revrend Horton Heat, Blondie, The Dead Cats, older Beastie boys, Pretty much anything with some rhythm, soul, passion, humor, a swinging beat, anything but top 40.
Well illustrated Fairy tales, nursery rhymes, the annotated mother goose, the Oxford dictionary of nursery rhymes, all of Richard Brautigan's books, T. H. de Dillmont's 'Encyclopedia of Needlework' (if you've ever seen this book you KNOW what I mean!), Nick Bantock, Astrid Lundgren, The Wind in the Willows, Watership Down, Alice in Wonderland, and Annotated Alice, Edward Lear, Mervyn Peake, Rhold Dahl, nonsence poetry, Shel Silverstine, well written cookbooks, knitting books that aren't full of bad eighties patterns and dolman sleeves, Angela Fisher, gardening books, any of the books from the Family Creative Workshop series.
CLASSICS, Auntie Mame, Casablanca, Roman Holliday, Sabrina (the origional), Thouroghly Modern Millie, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Harvey, It's a Wonderful Life, Key Largo, The African Queen, The Women, Gaslight, The Mating Season, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mathilda, My Neighbour Totoro, Amile, Yours Mine and Ours, The Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, Princess Bride, Oscar, Fried Green Tomatoes, Little Miss Sunshine, East is East, Pieces of April, almost anything with Rosalind Russel, Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Becall, Ingrid Bergman, Jimmy Stewart, etc, etc, etc.
Knitting, sewing, weaving, quilting, embroirdery, gardening, making little impractical things..... that happen to be pretty. If it can be done with the hands, I'll give it a go.
Vintage sewing machine attachments, (especially rufflers), wool, fabric, books, knitting needles, crochet hooks, (even though I don't crochet... yet), vintage childrens literature, strange sewing notions, buttons, Guterman thread (I LOVE their thread), wooden thread spools (with or without thread),ribbon, bits and pieces for tieing fly fishing flies, little hand made things made by people other than me. If you made it, and put a little of yourself in it, I'll love it.
I love vintage barkcloth, retro prints that aren't cutesy, earth tones and bright colours, (sometimes together), gingham, natural fibers. Not too fond of pastels, neon, and eighties florals. I currently have too much wool, (unless you have access to Briggs & Little, I can never have too much B&L), and fabric. So Please don't send me any unless you don't think I can't live without it ;)
Some one left the cake out in the rain, I don't think that I can take it, 'cause it took so long to bake it, and I'll never have that recipe again... Ohhhhh Noooooooooo...
(Richard Harris, McArthur Park)
I LOVE to bake, I always have homade stock of one kind or another in the freezer ready for soup at a moments notice, my slow cooker is used mostly for pulled pork with homemade BBQ sauce, I have an obscene collection of vintage aprons and bakeware. Aint nothin' better than homemade bread, and I have my favorite recipe memorized.
I have two cats, I found them when they were three weeks old, they're five now. They are sisters and named Filthy & Trash - guess where I found 'em! Filthy is five pounds and fast, (when my son is around), and cuddly at night. Trash is fifteen pounds, Cameron uses her as a pillow/matress, and she hogs the bed. If you send cat toys, (they LOVE catnip), please make them toddler safe :)
My son Cameron is one and a half and most certianly a future swapper, he LOVES mail, (it was one of his early words). He gets all my swap envelopes and boxes and stuffs them an unstuffs them 'till there's nothing left and they go into the recycling. He loves Bob the Builder, trains, big trucks, vehicles in general, cats, dogs, and animals. Any postcards sent his way are greatly appreciated and will make his day.

Just thinking about you again. Hope you are ok!
I'm still wondering if you received my postcard for the Brewery Box Postcard Swap. But, judging from your last log-in date, it looks like I'll never know. I'm really bummed that you aren't completing what you committed to.
Hey Lady!
We miss you, please let us know you are ok!
Hugs, Amanda
