I am a art teacher - K- 6 in Roeland Park Kansas, a wife for 31 years my husband and I have two children both boys, one is 27 and the other 23 -- one is maried and the other is not. I have been a crafter and artist since I can remember. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Art education from Kansas University and My Masters in Education from Webster University I love drawing and painting and recently in the last 5 years have found a great love of warm glass. Craft wise I can'think of anything I have not tried! :) I love art of any kind second only to my family!
There is very little music I don't like -- I do have my favorite -- which is country any time period and any artist, love my country. I also like oldies, specially the crooners; Frank, Dean, and the new crooners; Mike Buble` and Harry Connick Jr. I do have a soft spot for old rock and roll- starting with Elvis Presely and the Beatles all the way to ELO -- as you can see I have as wide a love of music as I do for art.
I am an avid night time reader, I don't go to bed with out reading. My favortie books are Science fiction, I LOVE Anne Rice, LeStat and the Mayfair Witches are the ultimate. Since I working with kids I have read and enjoy all the Harry Potters and the new Twilight series. I don't have an ultimate author more a ultimate genre. As far as magazines go I love Cloth Paper Scissors, and the Glass artist, but I read several on beading and jewerly creation as well, I am drawn to great looking covers so my magazine collection is as varied as my music collection.
I like movies but I am not a big movie goer! I wait till it comes out on a DVD and then watch it. My oldest son and I have a gret collection of DVDs-- I love movies about artist, the orignal Moulin Rouge is a great movie about Talouse Latrec. The 1934 movie on Rembrant is great too! an of cousre all the Sci-fi movies, The Vampire chronicles, Twilight series,.... as you can see I really like vampires! I was a real addict as a kid for Dark Shadows. I also love the X-Men series and most movies based on comic book heroes.
TV-- I don't have much time for and I have one or two favories, I like the ghost wisperer and Super Natural, and NCIS new and old, of course old movies too.
Oh my where do I start! Being a teacher I play with everything on my own and with my students. Personally I love to draw with color pencils and markers-- sort of mixed media but I can jump all over. Currently like I said above I love fused Glass, Jewelry and just now starting to try plates and bowls and such. I love taking class at the Kansas City Art Institute with other teachers and we enjoy doing cooperative projects when they come up. Right now several of us are working on a design class where we are creating a "Look Book" a collection of things that inspire us. I have crochet but don't knit, I have done almost all types of needle works out there, the eyes don't like them now as much as they use to. I love to do clay with my students and anything that pushes them out side of their box! Basically I love art! My favorite artist are Matisse and Latrec. I like some 20th century artists but at the moment Dale Chihuly is a real favorite.

I just invited you to be a member of Classroom ATC. Have you ever thought it would be fun to have you kids trade art with other students from around the world. I'm an art teacher from Minnesota, USA and I want to do a ATC trade with other art teachers so we can have a professional conversation to see if Swap-bot might assist in Classroom ATC Trades. Join our swap and group if you want to learn more.
