Well, I guess I'll start with the basics; I'm a 24 year old female currently living in Southern California. I like So-CAl, but in the future I would like to live in one of those Victorian houses in San Francisco, with a view of the golden gate bridge and the bay. SF is my ultimate dream city. Speaking of cities, I also love to travel. Although my traveling shoes haven't seen the road as much as I want to, exploring the world is certainly one of my top priorities in the years to come.
Right now, I work as a research assistant for a university developmental/clinical psychology lab, specializing in understanding child development, particularly autism. Love my job! The majority of my day is spent running around and playing with toddlers. Very challenging at times, but also very satisfying.
Here are a few of my favorite things:
cold weather, fall and winter seasons, rain and gloom (perfect time to snuggle with a hot drink)
pinkberry yogurt; boba/tapioca drinks; sweet green iced-tea from starbucks; mountain dew
blue; green; red; yellow;I prefer dark colors over pastel shades (e.g., strong dark green over soft pastel green), I'm not a fan of neon shades either.
collecting knick-knacks, scraps, odds and ends that can be used for crafting (e.g., doll heads, buttons, ribbons, paper, pins, blah, blah, blah, you get the idea )
thrift shopping; cafe hopping; photograpy; books; movies; journal writing; sending and receiving letters/postcards from all over the world.
vintage toys, vintage cards, vintage photographs, vintage owls, vintage bunnies/rabbits, vintage bears, anything vintage!
Decole!
For reasons unexplainable, I've always gravitated to the styles of past decades, retro, bohemian vintage, to be exact, which unfortunately have become more of a fad nowadays (think [overpriced] Urban Outfitters). But it still doesn't stop me from enjoying these little pleasures.
Anything retro, funky , bohemian, vintage, thrifted, count me in!
Well, I'm really looking forward to getting to know and swap with you folks!
I'm open-minded (or should I say, open-ears?) to all genres. My listening mood changes a lot, resulting in eclectic playlists on my IPOD. Current mood includes; The Duhks, Lali Puna, Frou Frou/Imogen Heap.
Oh Gosh, lots to name, and as hodgepodge as they come! The amazing classic, To Kill a Mockingbird. I just saw and fell in love with Little Miss Sunshine. Blood Diamond and Hotel Rwanda still reverberates. On a lighter note, I'm into Studio Ghibli films of the famed Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki; Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro are examples. I find films from other countries refreshing and inspring; Children of Heaven (Iran), Not one Less (China), The Cup (Bhutan), The Devil's Backbone (Spain), Amelie (France) to name a few. And to cap it off; Me and you and Everyone we know, The Station Agent, Home Alone movies and Eddie Murphy films are also among the many. Bottomline is that I love watching flicks!I wear my blockbuster card in my sleeve :-)
The Simpsons!!!! I've been addicted to Heroes lately. Gilmore Girls, I Love Lucy, America's next top model (just because I like how they stage their photoshoots), are on my must see list.
I like to try my hands on every arts and crafts under the sun. I'm more of an "average" Jack of all Trades rather than an "expert" in one. But I do have some favorites; photography, letter/postcard writing, collage, trying to create things from scratch.
