I live in Western Washington, although will likely return home to New England at some time. I went to school in Quebec, for Stage Managing and Environmental Studies. I currently work as a house manager at a performing arts center and at a museum.
things I like? tea, making up recipes (I am a vegetarian and like to put thought and effort into good food), thunder storms, old radio shows, steampunk-ish aesthetics of rusty-ness and tangible technology, touch and textures, soft lighting and fireplaces, cribbage and scrabble, going to plays, owls, elephants, giraffes,
flavors/foods I like - liccorice, vanilla bean, dark chocolate, lavender, cardamom, burritos, coconut curry with cashews and pineapple, potatoes, salted caramel, cheese, fresh fruits and veggies fresh from a garden,
smells I like - rain and fresh air, baking bread, campfires, the air coming out of a laundry dryer vent
favorite colors: earthy, jeweltone, muted, rich colors - the colors of black and green teas, rusty metal, aged dark woods, fall leaves, the deep blue of a twilight sky, dusty/antique rose/blue, the light from a sunset
Things I dislike? cinnamon (I have a sensitivity), synthetic fibers, bright florescent lighting, really loud noises, science fiction, onions, heights, things with small holes (trypophobia issues - things like coral or pancake bubbles make me uncomfortable)
Some facts: I speak english, and have taken some french (and want to lern more) and like languages in general and like trying to learn little snippets As mentioned I am a vegetarian I have a pet cat named Motoko
My musical tastes are varied - I like things that have layers to their sound. I tend to 'judge' music more on the melody and the piece as a whole than I do by the lyrics, although I do appreciate good lyrics. The things I have been listening to recently include: David Byrne Mumford and Sons Erin McKeown
My favorite sounds include: footsteps, typing, redwinged blackbirds, cat purrs, thunder, spring peepers, crackling of a fire
I don't like sharp/harsh noises, yelling screaming etc. and this applies to my musical tastes as well.
Books are great. I love wandering through used bookstores and looking at everything and smelling the smell of old books.
I can't decide if I prefer hard or soft back books.
I like things that are more character and less plot driven. I have read a lot of Haruki Murakami, Nick Hornby, and Chuck Palahniuk recently. The Phantom Toll Booth and Kafka on the Shore are two
I like short stories too - little snapshots of someone's life or a glimpse into one particular event.
I tend to have trouble reading fantasy and science fiction, but if they are reccommended by someone whose taste I trust I will give them a try too.
Like with books, I like character based more than plot based movies.
I like mysteries and crime dramas. I also like the movies that are hard to wrap your head around (like david Lynch films).
I really like Cohen brothers and Wes Anderson films.
I like clasic films too - Hitchcock and film noir, the musicals are a lot of fun.
British comedy tickles my funny bone - I don't really like modern screwball comedies.
I tend to like foreign films because the actors look more like real people and because I like listening to other languages. My favorite foreign directors are Jean Pierre Jeunet, Lars Von Trier, and Werner Herzog.
I don't really watch a lot of tv, but I do tend to work on craft projects to a background of Law and Order marathons...
I do like: MacGyver, Quantum Leap, Dexter, Pushing Daisies, Legend, Firefly, the Cosby Mysteries
I really love making things with my own two hands.
I knit and sew (my own clothing and house hold things and gifts), I like trying to desig knitting/sewing projects.
Woodworking is fun too, but I don't really know what I am doing (not that it has stopped me from tackling projects with my father and grandfathers) and I don't really have the equipment.
I like drawing and painting as well, but don't tend to do a lot of it.
I like taking pictures - I have a film and digital SLR, and an Instant Polaroid, and have one or the other on my at most all times.

I just wanted to let you know that I fell in love with the Harney & Sons tea you sent me. I was about to buy some online but I was in a town an hour away and they had the Paris flavor (my fave) in an upscale grocery store. I was so excited! Thank you for getting me hooked! Ha ha.
Your "fat quarter" fabric swap is on it's way! And a great big "WELCOME"! You are going to love it here. Nice profile too, when I came I didn't even now about the profile until someone mentioned it to me LOL!
