I am a professional harpist living in a Chicago suburb. I love living near the city, but within walking distance of our local organic farmer. My husband is from South Africa, and we have one delightful, six year old daughter. We love to travel and make new friends from around the world. Nature and conservation are very important to us.
I am very new to this swapping community, but am excited to learn. I don't consider myself "crafty", but like to learn new things.
I love books for Christian women/living (Anita Renfroe, Stormie Omartian, Max Lucado), cook books, some fiction, but no romance novels.
I don't get to watch a lot of TV, but I do like almost anything on TLC (John & Kate Plus 8), wedding shows (Platinum Weddings, Bridezillas) and while I never get to watch it, I really like The Closer. During the school year, I am an avid Oprah fan!
I can't sew to save my life, but I appreciate those who do! I love baking right now. Cupcakes are my passion. Muffins are fun too. I have only taken the first Wilton course, but am looking forward to learning more over the next few months. I have a shelf in my pantry dedicated to baking supplies!
Being a musician, I pretty much love it all. We listen to a lot of world music here, especially from Latin American and Africa. I don't listen to classical all that much, as it seems too much like work to me sometimes!
I love, love, love birds! Finches of all types, Blue Herons, and White Egrets are my favorites. Recycling found materials into art is just the best.
My favorite colors are red, black, and robin's egg blue. My kitchen and living room have red accents, and my bedroom is the one with the blue.
I love girly vintage things (French country and shabby/flea market chic), but my husband HATES it, so I don't get to decorate the house with it. But, my own personal treasures are just fine.
I desperately need new earrings, as I am always losing mine. But, I'm allergic to nickel.
I love both coffee and tea. We drink a lot of "real" rooibos here (no flavorings) I don't care for Earl Grey or green teas very much, though. I need coffee to survive!
I am trying to cook one meatless meal each week, so more recipes for main dish dinner options are welcome. My husband is more picky than I am though, so no beans for him.
My family does not celebrate Halloween, so nothing dedicated to that holiday.
Humor that is derived from the expense of others (race, religion, weight, ethnicity, etc)
Recipes including pork.
Kawaii (sp?)
Country decor (though French style roosters, I love!)

Regarding the recipe for the biscuit in the photo - I don't know if you'd really want the recipe, hehe :D It looked lovely but the biscuit itself was quite bland, I'm sure after a bit of juggling with the ingredients, it'd be tastier.
I made a fantastic batch of brownies last month, if you'd like the recipe for that! It translated really well into gluten-free, but also has rave reviews for normal ingredients as well.
