Hi! I'm Kristy. A Minnesotan farm-raised girl currently living in Italy with my amazing husband. I'm an LPN and college student taking online classes toward a registered nursing degree. Italy has much to offer and I'm slowly taking advantage of the opportunities here while supporting my husband in his US Army career.
I love industrial rock, namely Nine Inch Nails. I also like progressive, alternative, and classic rock. My favorite bands of late: A Perfect Circle, Tool, Bush, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck, The Smashing Pumpkins... etc etc.
I tend to read on and off. Lately I've been reading Lord Of the Rings: The two towers. I really like the LOTR movies and so far I've finished reading both The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring. I do not own The Return of the King, but would like to!
I also love The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. My husband has been trying to get me to read Chuck Palanuik books. Sooner or later.
The Bridges of Madison County, Fried Green Tomatoes, Little Nicky, My Best Friends Girl, I Love You Man, Idiocracy, Fight Club, LOTR movies.
I don't watch much TV, I mostly just own season DVDs of shows. My favorites are The Simpsons, Army Wives, Grey's Anatomy, Futurama, Invader Zim.
I've's been quilting for 6 years but it's become somewhat of an obsession within the last six months. =) What made it such an obsession are the gorgeous designer fabrics I've seen lately. I'm always looking for ways to grow my fabric stash so swapping seemed perfect! (especially since I just put myself on a budget)
My sewing machine and I are not in the same country in the moment, so that's a bit hindering. I've been teaching myself to hand piece and hand quilt. So far I've made my mom and mother-in-law handmade potholders and finished a quilt top for my husband completely by hand so I must be doing something right.
I love most Moda fabrics, lots of Michael Miller, most Amy Butler, and most Heather Ross. Lately I've had my eye on weaves. Ooh and Kona cottons.
Kitchens with a country feel. Anything northwoods, like pine trees, deer, elk, fish, bears. Old lake maps. Hanging out at the lake. Orange and green. Pink and gray. Yellow and blue. A cold beer on a hot summer day. Gardening. Being on the farm. Army or patriotic things that bring out my pride in my husband and our country. Mexican food. A good cup of coffee (with hazelnut creamer). Royal Albert flower of the month teacups, especially the 1940 series. Cooking and baking. Potlucks. A random storm.
The lingering smell of cigarettes. People who are unreasonably harsh. Waking up early. Poppy seed rolls. The smell of Venice.
Fabric, always! A fabric pen. InsulBright. Warm & Safe. Some good thread.
