About Me
Hi! I'm Laura, a 34 year old introvert, feminist, vegetarian & bookworm from the UK. I live with my husband and our awesome rescue cat Emily in a little suburban house with lots of books and yarn.
I love snail mail & letters - there is something really special and magical about getting "real post", not just boring old bills and junk mail. I especially love swaps related to teas, books, letter writing and animals.
Update 31st Jan 2019: Getting back into a few swaps after a break. I miss sending and receiving real letters etc.
My likes & interests
Books Books and reading are my biggest love. I'm at my happiest curled up with a good book and a cup of tea! I'd love to receive bookmarks and other book related things, learn about your favourite books and what you're currently reading. My favourite genres are scif-fi, fantasy, magical realism, speculative fiction and contemporary fiction.
Star Trek I am a Trekkie - Star Trek is my happy place and very special to me. Love all series. I'd be delighted to received anything Trek related or simply write to / geek out with other fans.
Tea My favourites are English Breakfast, Chai and anything spicy, orange, berry, rooibos, honeybush, and chamomile, but I love trying new flavours.
Cats I love cats and anything cat related. I always say hello to cats I see in the street and would love to hear about your pets. My own cat, Emily, is an adorable 9 year old rescue cat. "Forever homes" are another one of my passions.
Animal rights & vegetarianism I have been vegetarian for 2 years and love trying new veggie food / recipes. I am currently also exploring vegan food and trying to cut down on dairy a lot. I'd love to receive veggie / vegan recipes and ideas, also postcards, articles or anything relating to animal rights and welfare.
Birds I'm an back-garden bird watcher and love feeding the birds. I am also currently trying to learn more about identifying birds from the song. I would love to receive postcards or pictures of birds native to your county.
Trees, woodland/forests & woodland creatures I'm a big fan of woodland and anything relating to woodland animals - especially foxes, badgers, bats and owls.
The night sky & the northern lights Postcards and images of the night sky and especially the northern lights are always very welcome.
Buses/public transport & bicycles I don't drive and choose to live "carfree". Because of this, I'm really interested in public transport and cycling cultures around the world, postcards of buses, trains etc in other countries.
Dislikes
I am mostly happy receive whatever you wish to send, but do have a few things I'm not so keen on...
- As I am vegetarian, please don't send anything containing gelatine or other animal products.

- I'm not a big fan of instant coffee.

My family loves Harry Potter! We will be going to Universal Studios In California next month to go see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I can't wait I love Harry Potter. I cried when I seen the last movie cause it was over. My kids just laughed at me. Happy Swapping!

Hi Laura! I'm definitely with you on the receiving junk mail thing - we need more thoughtful mail! While there is a small age gap between us, I can tell you that we have a few things in common. I ride my bike and the bus wherever I need to go, but I wish it was for the same reason you do it! Here in America, people aren't as willing to give up their life styles - this includes their cars. I wish I could see more bike friendly areas here to make my commute easier. I have a friend that went strictly all natural and when I stayed over her house, she made chick pea pizza. I bet you have to get really creative to go vegetarian let alone all natural - good for you! I have all the Harry Potter books, but because I watched all the movies before reading them, it makes it harder to get through the first one (I know... the shame). It's been forever since I've seen the movies, so maybe I'll start trying to read them again. Perhaps you'd be interested in swapping garden seeds, teas, cat and fox-y stuff, recipes, and candles sometime. Enjoy the rest of your week!

I'm very tempted, although I only collect unwritten postcards, buzt I don't have matching bird postcards right now. :-(
