Wife, mother, grandmother to the Fab 5, scrapbooker, artist, writer, tinker of all crafts, Master of none. What will I be when I grow up?
I live in the Atlanta area and I work as an administrative assistant at the Georgia House of Representatives. I support 2 committee chairman and the legislative session is busy, rushed and crazy. The rest of the year is quieter. I've been doing this for almost 20 years and I still learn something everyday.
Over the past year and a half, I have lost 115 pounds! Yay for me! I am now doing things I never thought I would do again and I have found some new "likes" and hobbies, among them hiking! On my 58th birthday I hiked a small portion of the Appalachian Trail! I still can't believe I have this whole new life.
I have a wonderful husband and we have been married 39 years. How can that be? I'm don't feel that old, much less having been married that long. My three daughters are the great love of my life and I am over the moon about my five grandkids...the Fab 5! Oohh....I could just eat 'em with a spoon, they are that sweet!
Scrapbooking is my first love. I love the whole process of picking paper, ribbon, embellies, etc to go with the pix & then choosing a layout. Sometimes I cheat on scrapping with papercrafts, crocheting, painting. I recently took up Zentangles and I am so hooked on that I can't go a day without it! The more I learn about it, the more I want to do. I love Christmas crafts and making things for the people I love! I've got lots of stamps I like to play with. Oh, and I love Victorian laces, buttons, jewelry findings, ribbon. I'm not really wild about stickers.
I love New Age, Celtic, some alternative, easy listening, classical, soft piano, soft rock, folk. I guess you could say that I am pretty eclectic in my music choices and likes. I love Brightman, John Denver, and everything in between. Some opera, some bluegrass....it's hard to say on any given day!
Hands down, my favorite movie is To Kill a Mockingbird, closely, and I do mean closely, followed by It's a Wonderful Life. Kelsey Grammar's Christmas Carol is a fave. There are so many.....Legends of the Fall, A River Runs Through It, Dan in Real Life, Little Women, Mona Lisa Smiles, It's Complicated, Something's Gotta Give... and I LOVE old black and white movies on Turner Classic Movies. Love anything with Cary Grant, Mae West, Bing Crosby, the Marx Brothers. Just like my music, I like a variety of movies!
For the most part, I watch old movies. House Hunters on HGTV is a favorite simply because I like to look at other people's homes in different areas of the country. Survivor is a must see each week and The Amazing Race. I was into Biggest Loser, but this season hasn't grabbed my attention. Sometimes I like Antiques Roadshow. It just depends on my mood, I guess!
Chocolate! Before I lost my weight I used to say that there was a skinny women inside of me screaming to get out, but I could usually shut her up with chocolate. But just because I lost weight doesn't mean I still don't love chocolate! I just eat it in moderation. Peanut butter is high on my list. Oh, and coffee, except that I have to drink decaf everything - soft drinks, tea, etc - or I will be in the hospital with my heart doing the weirdest things. Yogurt...can't get enough of that stuff. Mexican food is probably my favorite ethnic food. I love apples, grapes, bananas, Clementines. Oh, and here's something strange....oatmeal, yes, oatmeal. I could eat pizza till I burst, but those days are long gone....moderation is the key, not deprivation.
Nativities, Santas, snowmen, Christmas angels, nutchrackers, vintage Christmas - Lefton and Napco angels, elves, etc. I collect vintage and unusual Halloween items - black cats, witches, ceramic pumpkins. I collect lanterns - like coaches lanterns - that go on my hearth and outside my front door. Old silverware, paper ephemera. I am a sucker for Brighton jewelry. I have the collecting bug pretty bad and I am always on the hunt at garage sales and Goodwill.
