I’m a 30-year-old momma to one very active 10-year-old boy. I do marketing and public relations work for a non-profit by day, although I dream of discovering a way to get paid to home school my monster :)
Being a conscientious consumer is super-important to me. When I need something for the house, I ask around (I recently got a brand new Ethan Allen dining table for free), hit the thrift or barter before I buy. It always amazes me what's out there -- there's just so much stuff :) I've been a strict vegetarian for over 16 years, I belong to a CSA farm and a natural foods co-op, and I shop at farmer’s markets and independently-owned businesses as much as possible. My favorite stops around town are the bakery, theater, bicycle shop, and the Mexican market/grill.
Some things I love: visiting, produce, tide pools, peanut butter, jazz, shooting stars, handmade anything, camping, finding better/gentler ways to live, making cards, big sunglasses, symmetry, breakbeat, dark chocolate, David Sedaris, exercising, butterflies, pinot noir, vegan cooking, fixing up my fixer-upper row home, Strongbow, puzzles, Pilates, blues and greens, vegetable gardens, riding my bike, 43Things, snuggling, sleeping, barbecues, sun dresses, bugs, Ira Glass, vertical stripes, trees, wind and flick'r.
Ani Difranco, Billie Holiday, Scott Hardkiss, The Cure, LTJ Bukem, Bob Marley, Sasha and Digweed, Nelly Furtado, Grooverider, DJ Dan/Funky Techno Tribe, Black Eyed Peas, Frank Sinatra, Deee Lite, Lamb, Portishead, Outkast, and on and on...
I watch a decent amount of movies, but I'm not very good at remembering them. In my queue right now is Sometimes in April, Happy Feet and The Fountain. I just saw Pan's Labyrinth, Spanglish and Tony Hawk's Gigantic Skatepark Tour: Summer 2000. My all time favorite movie is Clueless; it's totally brilliant, over-the-top, and laugh-out-loud funny. It always cheers me up :)
I have no TV, but my favorite radio show is This American Life and my favorite book is The Four Agreements.
Paper and beads, and I am currently saving money for a better camera.
