I'm a 36 year old woman, recently married in October 2012 to my sweetie Ian. We just relocated from a big city to a small town in BC, Canada, and we love it here! My husband just started an apprenticeship, and I'm a paralegal right now, though I'm looking at making a career change sometime in the next couple of years. We're hoping to buy some land and start a bison ranch, so my new career just might be managing the farm!
We don't have any kids yet (though we're hoping sometime in the next couple of years), but we do have a house full of furballs - 3 cats (Hermione, Onyx and Ember), 3 ferrets (Loki, Skaði and Draco) and an Akita dog, Cody.
In my spare time, I play video games (mostly MMOs like World of Warcraft), read, play the piano and harp, and craft obsessively. I used to be an avid member of the SCA (a medieval recreation group but since our move, the closest group is 2 1/2 hours away so it's not really doable anymore).
The short answer is: anything except metal, rap and grunge.
The long answer: I grew up taking classical piano lessons, so that has given me a big love of classical music. I most prefer the classical and romantic periods. I also love "early" music (ie. medieval & renaissance).
I also like just about anything that would be called Celtic or "new age" - The Rogues, the Corrs, Enya, Loreena McKennitt,
Genres: Fantasy, Sci Fi, and Historical are my favorites. I also really enjoy post-apocalyptic dystopia novels.
My current favourite author is Seanan McGuire, who also writes under the name Mira Grant.
Others I love:
Marion Zimmer Bradley
Anne McCaffrey
Holly Black
George R.R. Martin
J.K. Rowling
S.M. Stirling
Specific books: Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, the Game of Thrones series, Dies the Fire (well, the entire Emberverse/Change series by S.M. Stirling)
Just about anything scifi/fantasy or historical. I also enjoy comic book/superhero stuff (like the Avengers, Wolverine, etc) and movie versions of my favorite books.
Grimm! Best show on these days, far as I'm concerned
Once Upon a Time
Grey's Anatomy
Downton Abbey
Bones
Castle
All time favorites: Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer
This is more a list of crafts I do, rather than favorite crafts...
Knitting
Crochet (I can do it, but I don't really like the way it looks)
Sewing
Embroidery (cross-stitch and other forms)
Lampworking (making glass beads over a propane torch)
Jewelry making
Spinning
Weaving
Norse wire weaving
Calligraphy
Leatherworking
felting
a bit of painting
and I'm just starting to learn to draw and do paper crafts
I also like to cook and bake for my husband
Colours: bright red, eggplant purple, dark teal, and celery green, not all together, obviously. :)
Metal: silver
Scents: spicy, fruity, herbal or foody. I don't really do florals
Flower: stargazer lilies
Tea, not coffee
Peppermint, not chocolate
I love the steampunk aesthetic
I'm obsessed with fountain pens
I collect fridge magnets from other places (currently in my collection: Calgary, Vegas, New York)
My favorite animals are ravens, magpies, owls, sheep, moose, otters and ferrets
I love just about anything Celtic or Norse/Viking. My persona in the medieval group I was in was half Irish, half Norse Viking. I love knotwork, runes and Celtic or Norse motifs.
I love board and card games, especially weird/quirky ones like Cards Against Humanity, Settlers of Catan, Quiddler, etc.
I'm pagan, but not Wiccan. If you need a label, Druid comes closest. I'm respectful of others' beliefs, as long as they don't try to shove them down my throat or tell me I'm evil or anything like that.
I'm sensitive to cigarette smoke, so please don't send me anything that smells of it!
I LOOOOOVE handmade items. :)
I live in a little town in northern Canada, and the mail here sucks. I ALWAYS mail things by the deadline, but sometimes that involves me just putting stuff in one of our red boxes around town, and it may not be picked up until the next day, so I have no control over when it is postmarked. I'm determined to maintain a 5 rating, so if something hasn't shown up within a reasonable amount of time +/- a week, please let me know and I'll send another package.
