I am an unemployed nurse turned into a stay at home mom with two pre teen children that I homeschool. I live on the side of a mountain, literally in the middle of no where. We have only lived here for two years. We moved to Idaho from Florida. The nearest paved road is 20 minutes away and the nearest small town is 45 minutes away. The nearest Walmart is 2 hours away and the nearest shopping mall is 4 hours away. I love the peace but sometimes get lost taking care of a husband, two children, two elderly in laws, two dogs and 60 chickens (yes, some people call me the chicken lady). I hope to add a horse (for my daughter) and sheep later this year.
I quilt, crochet, knit and embroider. I quilt every chance I get. Sometimes I only get to sit at my machine for 10 minutes but I make the most of those 10 minutes. I learned to quilt from my grandmother and this quilt with the templates and colors reminds me of her. This is the way she quilted. I have the best husband in the world and he lets me take off sometimes to go to quilt stores. Every few months I go shop hopping for a few days and once a year he lets me go for a week. I live in some of the most beautiful country in tha United States and I love to spend the day alone driving and quilt shopping. Last year I drove 1000 miles and visited 12 quilt shops in 5 days. I hope to repeat that this summer but haven't decided which direction to go in yet.
My favorite quilting fabrics are batiks in Aqua blue colors. recently I have started adding embroidery to my quilting and doing small quilted projects with embroidery. I plan to add some embroidery to my 1930s quilt. I would love to get some embroidery supplies such as special threads. I have a thing about bags and have 10 projects going at once, each one in a different handmade bag. Needlebooks are an idea too. I am always losing my needles when I stick them in the couch cushions. Well, I find them later usually by sitting on them.
