I like bikes and chocolate and trees.

I just graduated college with a degree/certificate to teach secondary social studies/history, and am now in the process of finding a job. Eek!

I live in a small city in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I love living here--it is so beautiful and isolated from the crazy world, and I live on the coast of Lake Michigan, but I'm trying to move home to the Detroit area.

I speak some Spanish. I'm not fluent by any means, but I'm comfortable enough that I can have a conversation, and I can read and write pretty well. I'm starting to learn a bit of Finnish, but I doubt I'll have the time to devote to really learning the language.

I was raised on grunge, and still love it. I like hip hop (especially political stuff), old delta and memphis blues, ska, folk, punk. I love anything that sounds old or quirky. Sea shanties, circus music, etc.

My favorite musicians are Looptroop, a hip hop group from Sweden, and Tom Waits.

Sewing and paper crafts. I publish a zine, and love cut and paste stuff. I also really like writing, if that counts as a craft (and I think it should!). Journalling, writing letters, prose, etc.

I mostly read non-fiction, largely political or social in nature. I will read anything about Latin American culture or history. I really love memoirs! I will read fiction--I'll read pretty much anything anyone throws at me--I just don't tend to search it out on my own.

My favorite shapes are airplanes, the human heart, elephants, and carrots. I love drawing elephants, and I love learning about them and their social lives. I like vintage stuff and thrift stores and dumpstering and garbage-picking. I like circus themes, and Day of the Dead and Halloween, and anything with skeletons. I like big, chunky jewelry, especially necklaces. I like vegetables. And dark chocolate.
