I became a cloth doll artist in 1975 and thought out the years I taught my techniques anywhere and everywhere, all the while lamenting my lack of artistic talent and inability to create art because I could not draw. Last year, I learned that I could make art without drawing, with found objects, with words and pictures...and baby, there ain't no stopping me now! I live in my dream house, an old brick farm house, built in 1842, that has been lovingly preserved by all the owners who came before me. I have 4 children, the last two, 18 and 20 year old guys, are still at home. I've been married to Mark, my second husband for 21 years.
I love most of it although jazz, classical, folk and soft rock are my favorites. While driving, my car radio is set to the oldies station. I'm easily recognizable by the racket you hear coming from my car. It's me singing along.
I'm not a movie fan. I see one a year, at the insistance of my 18 year old son, and those are always at home after they come out on DVD. It seems that every time I sit still for that long, I just go to sleep. The last time I was in a theater was for Forrest Gump! My all time favorite, though is "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart.
Again, I'm not much for sitting still and watching a screen, so I usually watch whatever is on, but pay little attention. Since my hubby loves the history, travel and cooking channels, that's what I watch.
Although my first love is cloth doll making, I find that activity requires a certain amount of work in my studio. Since I'm always on the go, I find that sock knitting and photography are great 'grab and go' activities and I'm usually doing one or the other, or both!
