I'm a freelance health writer/editor, which gives me time to indulge my obsession with crafting. My primary inspiration is all things natural, especially mushrooms, botanicals/florals, and all things creepy and crawly (I love beetles, spiders, snails, lizards, salamanders, microlife...I could go on...). I also love Japanese art and craft (but NOT anime!). What else? I also love to walk, hunt for wild mushrooms and interesting bits of nature to incorporate into my creations, eat Asian and Latino food, and hunt on eBay and at Michael's for crafting supplies and the wonderful creations of other crafters.
Favorite colors: all natural, baby---but with the occasional flash of cobalt blue (I'm obsessed with cobalt blue beads...I think I've got some bower bird in me...)
Classic rock (Heart, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, Doors, you get the picture); Violent Femmes, Blondie, Eurhythmics, XTC, Japanese Tsugaru shamisen, Bulgarian folkdance music, other international stuff, Shubert, Chopin, Faure, and above ALL, the keyboard works of J. S. Bach.
What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure, Haiku Tunnel, Harold and Maude, The Piano, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Nature, The Dog Whisperer, Black Books, 'Til Death, My Name is Earl, The Office, Green Wing, Reno 911, Minor Accomplishments, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, In Case of Emergency, The Closer.
Polymer clay (especially beads and miniatures), embroidery/crewelwork, and beading/jewelry making. I'd like to do more sewing, but am not great at sewing by hand and my ancient turquoise Singer doesn't work most of the time. Love to sketch. Used to make paper but it's messy and hard on the back. (I loved the results, though!) Am starting to get into making little Japanese gardens and mysterious forest roomboxes with lots of moss, trees, creepy crawlies, and polymer mushrooms. Am terrible about spending more time buying supplies and reading crafting books than I spend actually crafting!
