Hello! My name is Amanda. I'm currently in college, and I live at home with my mother, sister, and brother. (It's easier financially.)
I have associates' degrees in psychology and sociology, and I am currently enrolled in the online Psychology BA program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. I have a love-hate relationship with school. I love learning and interacting; I hate deadlines. (It's amazing how quickly a week goes by!)
For fun, I volunteer at two local theaters. I've had the opportunity to see many shows of different types -- concerts, musicals, plays, dance, etc. -- and have really enjoyed the experience. I try to save a program and ticket stub from each show that I usher, just as a fun souvenir. I've seen probably about 100 shows through volunteering (though I don't have a souvenir from all of them; some of them didn't have programs/playbills, and for others I couldn't find a thrown-away/forgotten ticket!). I'm very grateful to be able to usher.
My dream is to someday travel, both within the US and internationally. I've done a bit of traveling in the US, but I've never been outside the country! (Okay, that's not entirely true: I was born in India, and I traveled to the U.S. as an infant. But I was eight weeks old, so I don't remember anything!) It's going to be quite a long time until I'm able to do so, but I'm looking forward to it just the same. :-)
I love hearing stories of peoples' travels, and seeing pictures. I also love foreign languages, though unfortunately, I don't speak any (yet :-)). (If anyone does know how to speak a foreign language, and would be willing to scribble down a few words or phrases, I love that kind of thing!)
I enjoy taking photographs, and seeing photos that others have taken. My favorite place to take photos (and video) is the zoo, because someone is always up to something. :-) I carry my camcorder with me everywhere, just in case there's something I want to tape/photograph during the day.
I love Disney! I love it probably more than I should. I prefer the animated movies; of those, The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Robin Hood, and Beauty and the Beast are probably my favorites. But I love most, if not all, of them. I've been to Disney World three times, and I'm already itching to go back. The last time I went was in 2005, with my mom, dad, sister, and brother. It was a vacation we still talk about frequently!
If you should get me in a swap, know that I care more about the time and effort than I do about the outcome. If you've put time into something, I'll be glad to see what you've created! I'm not picky. (Right now, I'm mainly participating in e-mail swaps, with the occasional letter swap. I'm hoping to be able to try some other things, though, at some point!)
Random things I love: coffee - chocolate (the darker, the better!) - butterflies - horses - okay, almost all animals - homemade cards/drawings (I love anything with a personal touch) - humorous/sarcastic greeting cards/postcards/sayings - flavored lip glosses/balms - anything glittery/shimmery/metallic/iridescent - pins (I have a purse and a baseball cap that I like to put pins on) - funny memes - stories (I'm just a big kid, I love being told a story)
Favorite colors: Black and silver! I also love shades of purple, red/pink, and blue. I'm really not picky, though. I love colorful photos/drawings/paintings.
Favorite candy: Any. :-) But for the sake of being specific... Good 'n Plenty, Twizzlers, Snickers, 3 Musketeers, and gummy bears.
Favorite scents/flavors: Coffee, cinnamon, hazelnut, ginger, peppermint, wintergreen, licorice, cloves
Favorite animals: Cats, butterflies (but I love most animals)
Favorite holiday: Christmas. I'm the type that listens to Christmas music year-round. (Not constantly, but whenever I feel like it; I never put the Christmas CDs away!)
