Just bought a home, two children, ages 11 and 8. Desperately hope there is another child in my future...love being a mom. In a relationship with a swell gal--about 6 years now, going strong. Love vintage, antique--hate commercialism, materialism and other poisonous 'isms. Strong feminist, celebrate the feminine power. Love to tend my little porch garden. Eat organic when I can afford to--natural always. Love yoga--starting my teacher certification in August, can't wait!
Indigo girls, Amy Ray, Butchies, Sarah McLaughlin, Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco, Xavier Rudd. I can give "types" better than artists--I love tribal sounding music. I'm always looking for music for yoga practice--sometimes I like hip and funky grooves for yoga, other times I like peaceful, meditative music. Also, love electronica!
Books on mothering/motherhood. I like scholarly explorations of the state of motherhood and mother's own stories of their experiences. Per Adrienne Rich, I love where institution meets experience and what we make of it. Been reading Ariel Gore stuff lately--very cool.
Documentary--all the way! Very picky about movies because usually I'm over analyzing. Just saw "Knocked Up" and enjoyed it until I realized that it was a conservative's dream--there was no abortion talk. See what I mean? I think too hard! Can't wait to see Waitress next...
Love Sex and the City even though it clashes hard with my feminist ideals--perhaps it's the New York backdrop, ahhhh....New York.
Love Golden Girls, Frasier, South Park...
Love to make jewelry...will try just about anything.
