Quilting, needlepoint, embroidery - especially stumpwork, knitting and .
A Brit living in the US. Have lived in Italy and the Middle East. Have twins who are 28, three dogs and husband, Charles. I grew up on a farm in England (Cheshire) and then moved to Gloucestershire to another farm. I left there when I was 18 and took the civil service entrance exams and worked in the Foreign Office for several years. I had a posting in North Africa for two years and then worked in Cheltenham in Gloucestershire at GCHQ until I met my husband. Also managed to take a Cordon bleu diploma in London. I love to cook and entertain when possible. Not so keen on housework though - usually gets done when people are coming over (Thank goodness for laundry rooms as they hide so many things!)
Music is quite eclectic: Eric Clapton, Elton John, Beethoven, Mozart, opera, gregorian chant, reggae. some jazz. rock and roll, Elvis. Cannot stand rap or hip hop.
Love to read mysteries and spy novels. Some sci-fi, historical novels and am returning to the old classics like Jane Austen and Dickens(a bit hard to read at times) Belong to a book club so have to read books I would not normally buy.
My TV is somewhat limited. I like PBS, Masterpiece Theatre (some of them!) and watch Law & Order UK. Like Link TV as it has a great cross section of world news and activites. I much prefer to listen to BBC radio on the computer, read or knit or sew than watch TV.
I started sewing at my mother's knee - so to speak and learnt to embroider, knit and sew. Sewed my own clothes as a kid. Started to quilt and then gradually moved to art quilting. I work one day a week at a local quilt shop - for my fabrics!. Love to try different techniques on quilts. Also like to embroider and knit. Have been knitting beaded scarves lately and really like doing this. Make great gifts for people. Do some stump work or raised embroidery work and really enjoy that. I also teach at the quilt shop and am presently teaching a "Mermaids and Munchies" class. The students come for dinner that I prepare and then learn a technique and do a mermaid block for that month.
