Handmade Envelopes

How big do the evelopes need to be? I have a pattern that makes those really cute small ones which are about 2" x 3", great for gift cards....or is that too small?

Thanks for asking- I think 1 or 2 would be ok, and then maybe some bigger ones.

Tip: if you do not have a pattern, or are looking to expand your collection- just look to the junk mail you receive every day! Any envelope can be pulled apart (unfolded) and laminated- VOILA! Instant template. Most office supply/ copy stores (Kinko's, Office Max, Office Depot, Staples) can laminate them for you for about $1-2. I have really enjoyed expanding my collection of templates this way recently.

Erin --- that's a great idea! I've made my own templates before from plastic, but laminating one would be much easier. Thanks!

I never made envelopes before -- this is so much fun! I think mine are turning out pretty good, actually. :) I am going to make more to use myself!

me too velveteen..I could not sleep the other night and got up to make envelopes, I think I am developing an obsession, I see all paper as possible envelopes! HELP!

Today, the envelopes fron Jan in Durham arrived. Thanks alot Jan! Really cute envelopes and great extras. I especially adored the small felted teddybears - I shall put them in the boklet for my baby-girl.

I recieved the most wonderful set of envelopes from my sender (please forgive me for not getting up from my chair right now to go get your proper name!)--beautifully made, and they survived the mailing process very well. :) ... I'm just barely getting started... but oh how I love the first one I made!! ..
