Baby steps get on the bus, baby steps down the aisle, baby steps...

Okay, this swap isn't for the types that fear change. This is the kind of accountability swap for people that want to step up and change. Although baby step it up. :)

In three parts of your life, you will make a tiny change. You can either journal it, or make a spread sheet, or take before and after photos or all three or however you choose to keep record of these happenings. Over the next 30 or so days, I want us to keep 'score' of how we are doing and how we feel about it. If we miss a day or forget one of our changes, track that too. See how you feel about it. You are then going to make a copy of this and mail it to your partner.

The three parts looking for change are:

  1. Diet/Fitness - Here you will pick a small thing you'd like to change/phase out. Maybe give up soda or start walking a few minutes a day. Park the car one block further from work.

  2. Home - Here you will pick a thing you'd like to change about the home. Maybe program the coffee pot the night before to save time in the morning. Or spend 5 minutes a day cleaning up one thing. Maybe clear out some computer files and make it run a little faster.

  3. Mind - Here you will do a thing that expands your mind. Like listen to more audiobooks or look into podcasts. Commit to reading one news article a day. Take a free on-line course in a thing you always wanted to know.

Whatever it is, don't make it a huge thing, because huge things don't pan out. Be real specific about the goals at hand. A vague 'idea' or concept isn't a goal. How many times did "I'm going to clean this whole house" turn into "I'm going to watch Horders to feel better about my house"? That's what I mean by a concept.

There's one partner for this. This is meant to be fun and useful! Both things I love!

So we start on June 13 and send on August 13? Should we maybe have a little more wiggle room for a full month of tracking and then a few days to prep & send to our partner?

To be honest, I saw the title of this swap and that alone made me want to read what this was about. But I really love this idea. I have SO many huge goals and I never focus on the little parts... but those are the parts I'm always most interested in doing. So, yeah. This is great. Can't wait to pick up a journal today and start!
