Description:

f you're like me, you love receiving surprises in the mail. This is a five week long swap. For this swap every week for four weeks you will send your partner a small craft/art related surprise (ie nice paper scraps or pieces, fibers, buttons, brads, used stamps, stickers [no childish, religious, ugly, bent, folded], paper ephemera [tickets, clippings, foreign language text, stuff from your own area your partner might not see, etc], or anything else that you think your partner might like. If participants have specific things they like or don't like please post a message here. Do not send crap stuff--dirty, bent, damaged, etc. Send stuff you might like to receive. Don't spend a lot of money--a envelope weighing a couple of ounces is sufficient. For the final week, you will reveal yourself to your partner and send a 6x9 envelope of all kinds of goodies. Please be faithful and do not sign up for this swap if you cannot send something all 5 weeks as I will not be able to angel any swaps, not knowing who the partners will be. All swaps MUST be mailed by December 1. This is an international swap so please be aware that packages may take some time getting to you--be patient.

are there any specifications for the end 6x9 envelope?

cherryecho 10/25/2006 #

what does being able to "angel" any swaps mean? and just look on my profile for my dislikes.

thanks :)

user2661 10/25/2006 #

I'm in London and have signed up - I'm happy to pay postage to the States or beyond.

Being an 'angel' means taking the place of someone if they turn out to be rubbish and don't send anything.

user4234 10/25/2006 #

Is December 1st the date that the last package must be sent by?

rhodyart 10/30/2006 #

Hi all, sorry I haven't been online to answer questions. 1. the end 6x9 envelope should have about 4-6 ounces of stuff you would like to receive yourself that you send to your partner. The value is up to you.
2. "angeling" means to replace swaps that were lost or were never mailed. I like Lixie's explanation very much lol 3. Yes, December 1 is the last date to mail packages by

It is also a good idea to post when you receive and send, and also comment on what you're getting so that your partner knows how s/he is doing with the stuff sent. and if you have any special requests.

thanks for joining. I ran a similar swap that just ended and we all seemed to like it lin

I am so excited! I love anything yellow. Heehee! :)

user3645 11/ 2/2006 #

This sounds like lots of fun! I'm glad I joined!! By the way I love RED!! But look on my profile for other likes.

cherryecho 11/ 4/2006 #

should we click "sent items" when we send our LAST item out?

rhodyart 11/ 6/2006 #

click "sent items" when you do your last packet. But do post that you've sent and received here so that everyone can see what's happening. Mine is going out today to my partner (hee hee)

user3645 11/ 7/2006 #

mine went out today for my partner.

user3645 11/ 8/2006 #

Received my 1st secret swap packet!!! Magic cards, beads, map of Spain and Italy and embroidery kit.

Love the map and the beads. I've never embroidered before so it should be fun to try this!! Thank you Secret Partner!

rhodyart 11/10/2006 #

I sent my second package out to my partner. Hope you like what I've sent.

I received a big envie from my artsy secret partner today. What fun! I liked your letter, almost as much as the stuff! It was fun reading a bit about you and your art. I've never seen "blank sliders" before, so that was especially fun! And the music paper will be great in an altered book! Love it all! Thanks!

user3573 11/11/2006 #

I recieved my envie today and it was filled with lovely real used postage stamps. This are so cool, I will but these with my "special supplies" horde. Thank you so much!

user3573 11/11/2006 #

Oh and my first envelope will go out tommorow. It has a long way to travel- so please don't think you are forgotten secret sister. I will send out the next one early next week so you should get spaced more correctly

cherryecho 11/14/2006 #

ooo i got stuff from my secret partner today. lots of different funky blank (birthday or such) cards!

thank you!

rhodyart 11/14/2006 #

Another packet will go to my partner later this week--I hope you will like what's in it

cherryecho 11/15/2006 #

i sent my second today. hope it arrives ASAP!

rhodyart 11/17/2006 #

By the way, I wanted to mention that you need to pay attention to people's profile--things they want. For example, if someone doesn't mention they like stationery, don't send stationery--the theme of the swap is artsy secret partners so participants SHOULD send art stuff--papers, supplies, fibers, etc. Hope this helps. I'm mentioning this because I've gotten a couple of private emails mentioning that things were being sent that didn't really fit into the swap, such as stationery sets.

i just got an envelope with a personalized handmade luggage tag, and a really cute sticky note pad! thanks secret partner.

i sent my third today as well.

rhodyart 11/22/2006 #

Again, PLEASE do not send items like notepaper, stationery, that sort of thing. This is a swap of ART items, not writing paper.

cherryecho 11/23/2006 #

i think some people may have misunderstood about the note paper and stationary because this swap is listed under "Paper Goods" as one of the categories. also alot of people use stationary and note paper for book binding and altered books, which is a form of craft and art.

rhodyart 11/28/2006 #

At least three people on this swap have reported receiving only ONE surprise from their partner or none at all. When you signed up for this swap, you were to send a total of five surprises over a period of 5 weeks--4 small ones and 1 larger one. I'm disappointed that several of you have opted to apparently renege on that commitment. I'm sure you know that swap participants will be rated by their partners and this rating will probably affect your being allowed to do other swaps on Swap-Bot.

The deadline for mailing the final package is this friday, December 1. It would be a good thing for the slackers among this group to get on the ball.

Apologies to those who have been doing their part

thanks lin

user3645 11/29/2006 #

I sent my 3rd last week. I was out of town for thanksgiving and didn't have computer access. My 4th went out today. And the big package is going out on the 30th.

user3573 11/29/2006 #

please note some people live far away and with the holidays it takes longer. if someone hasn't recieved their packages maybe they should check with the sender to see if they are in transit.

cherryecho 11/29/2006 #

i sent my 4th yesterday and the 5th will be out on friday. i didnt send my last one out on the friday like i planned, this is mainly due to our weather. it is insane to go outdoors in this weather and i got mild hypothermia on thurday and didnt leave my house all weekend. dr's orders. gotta love -40 degrees celcius with a windchill. sorry for the delay!! :) but i sent it air mail so hopefully it gets there ASAP.

rhodyart 11/29/2006 #

and I've sent my last package to my partner. I've enjoyed finding things for you--hope you like this final batch.

rhodyart 11/29/2006 #

Yes, I do keep in mind that some people are overseas--however, there are 2 people who haven't received anything at all yet--and the swap started a month ago. Thus my concern

user3645 11/30/2006 #

Received my second packet today. I'm not into cutesy or pastels (see my profile) but thank you for the stickers, buttons, and cutouts anyway. I know it is difficult to think of things to send. Check my profile on likes. I'm really into Japanese papers-origami or fabrics in dark colors if this helps us get on the same page.

Oh and uh the kleenex packet with Winnie the Pooh was that a mistake??

I am grateful for having received something but it is important to follow the guidelines, its what keeps the swaps fun and keeps the participants coming back for more.

cherryecho 12/ 1/2006 #

i sent my final one off today! hope it gets there soon. let me know when you receive it.

cherryecho 12/ 8/2006 #

i got a package today from my partner. thank you! :)

cherryecho 12/28/2006 #
