Description:
You will send your partner a Zentangle of an Upper Case "J" on an ATC sized (2.5 inch x 3.5 inch) card stock or similar paper. Using color on your tangle, a colored paper or color wash is optional. Use your creativeness and send something you would be happy to get. Please make sure you have a sturdy backing. Add the name of the swap, your name, swap name & date completed on the back of your card. NOTE: All the patterns you use MUST be Certified Zentangle Patterns. If you're unsure what these are, go to www.tanglepatterns.com or Flickr (search - Zentangle). Doodle art is very different than Zentangle art. Making these letters is a great way to learn new patterns. We will go in order through the alphabet until the end - "Z" so you can work ahead if you wish. The usual Swap-bot rules apply. Newbies are welcome as long as the swap requirements are fulfilled. Flaking will NOT be tolerated and you must be in good standing. If you have any problems contact your swap partner and/or me. If you have questions about the swap, leave it in the comment section or pm me. If you flake on a letter you will be banned from future swaps. I cannot Angel but you can get the letter when we do the Make-Up Swaps. The photo of the "J" above is one I did in the last Series with a watercolor background. I don't really care for the colors but it's just an example. Happy Tangling! Newbie friendly! NOTE After this swap is completed, I will post the next letter as well as a Make-Up Swap. Be thinking which letter/s you would like to receive.

Your description kind of puzzles me... you're asking for people to use **official* zentangle patterns and yet, you point them to www.tanglepatterns.com As far as I know, there is only one page dedicated on that site to official patterns, here: Linda's list of official tangle patterns where she mentioned that there are 138 official patterns and she doesn't have them all linked with instructions how to draw them. On another hand, there are almost 400 tangle patterns in all on www.tanglepatterns.com

OK, what I'm asking: can person use only those 138 official patterns, or any pattern found through www.tanglepatterns.com ?

PS. I can't join since I'm not in US but likewise, because of not living in US, my only resource for zentangles are those found online. And your description really confuses me... :(

@MichelleWillow ~ sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.

If you look on the left hand side of that tangle pattern site, there are other Certified Zentangle Instructors with their patterns and directions/videos on how to do the tangles.
