QnT fabric swap – plain colors 9-20-12 thru 10-17-12 In October our quilting bee at church plans to make a field trip to visit some of the Amish and Mennonite quilt shops and displays in our state. In honor of that up-coming field trip I thought it might be fun to collect plain colored fabrics (no prints) in 100% cotton so that in November we (the QnT group) can make our own Amish-like mini art quilt. You will have two partners and send each partner: 2 different fat quarters in plain rich colors (no prints, 100% cotton fabric 18â€X22â€) Or 4 different fat eighths (9â€X22â€, no prints, 100% cotton) Please be sure to send good quality fabric, no paper thin. Yes, it is ok to send one cut of black fabric because the Amish often used black in their quilts. They originally made their quilts from leftover fabrics used in making their clothing and their bishops often selected black as appropriate to their beliefs. Next month we will use these plain colors (no prints) to make a mini art quilt to swap. Be watching! |
