Welcome!

If you're a seasoned or new swapper, if you have EVER sent anything through the mail/post, you have been at their mercy.

My subtle tactic is to approach them stealthily and love-bomb them! I'm soooooooooo polite to the post-office people they wonder what planet I'm from! But you have to admit, their job has to be challenging at times, hence the dreary faces on some of them. (I'm lucky that I live in a small town, and while I don't know the post-ladies by name, they recognize me and get a chuckle at my seemingly endless postage needs for my swaps, and even admire some of my decorated envelopes!)

SO: send a decorated envie to your partner, seasonal-theme, and wow their pants off! Even the postal person who drops it in your postbox! 'Tis the season for joy! We don't call them Postal Trolls for nothing!

Size: at least 5" x 7" and if you're concerned about said-trolls mangling your gorgeous piece of art, enclose a small flat token of happiness for your partner.

Ratings: Sorry, but you've gotta have decent ratings for this swap. Nothing under 4.95 and no recent 1's or 3's. If you have managed to garner a 1 or 3, talk to me and I'm sure we can work something out.

Get your creativity on!!!!

Just had to share with you: I go to the same post office to mail all my stuff off and they know me by name now. I know both of the people that work behind the counter by name and they love seeing where I am mailing stuff off that day. It's fun when I go in the post office now. If it's not busy when I go in, they chat with me and my step-daughter. It's a great joy now to go to the post office. If I need stamps, they always give me cute ones not just the flag ones. They are such great workers, two weeks ago I took them a pizza for lunch because I was talking to one of the workers about going to get pizza and he said he wanted a slice. So I took him one and he shared with the whole crew.

my mail person signed up for Swap bot after my many parcels - she likes me to wait to seal them so she can see what I am sending!

kerrydwynn 11/ 3/2012 #

@ButterflyQueenBee and @GrammaSherry SEE! We can win them over!

The deliverer is awesome, the ones at the local post office are not so great.

How ever being a seasonal card, I will bow out until after the holidays are over. Because kindness is a good way to treat those that are not kind.

@fawnscrafts -- agree! Love-bomb them!

It's true what BQB says, the mail, the decorated envelopes - the postal employees get to know some things about you beyond the name & address.
My local post office & employees know me well after a year of sending out decorated handmade envelopes - all sizes.
The "love-bomb" activity, the decorated envelopes enliven their days.

I was a mail carrier for 25 years, it is so much fun to get to know your customers ! The job can be very challenging when the snow is deep and the wind is cold, but to see the lovely art work that people send and receive makes it all worth while. The smiling faces at the door puts your steps light.

@Postcardpeggy ~ thanks for a lovely retrospect! Up here in the Great White North some days can be a challenge! A smile makes it all worthwhile!

I live in a small town and my post office peeps give me a huge smile when I walk in because of the packages I send. My grandpa was postmaster and my father-in-law was a postman. Keep the postal service alive!!!

Just a quick question - are we decorating for Dec holidays or Nov?

sisi 11/ 9/2012 #

I already worked on my envie... ^-^ Since we don't have Thanksgiving in the Netherlands, I decorated it in Christmas theme... I hope that's OK?

kerrydwynn 11/10/2012 #

@sisi @lunadelmar Seasonal is where YOU are -- which could be American Thanksgiving, Autumn, or pre-Christmas. Some places in our prairie provinces have snow already! :-) Thanks for asking.

Kayenderes 11/11/2012 #

Kerry......can you explain what the Watch list means??? What are they watching and why...please

kerrydwynn 11/11/2012 #

@Kayenderes - The Watchlist is what you are not committing to joining right now (date-wise, time wise) and you can join more swaps and then keep later-dated swaps available for your consideration.

Partners are assigned - bombs away! :-)
