Description:

I am in the mood for zine-making! And I'm looking forward to a fresh new year and more opportunities to learn and explore... so, let's share some creativity and knowledge with each other!

The Challenge

Make a mini-zine (A4/Letter) for your partners about something you know a lot about... maybe a craft, a subject, an occupation, an event in history, whatever you are passionate about and knowledgeable about. It can be something you've loved since you were a kid, or a new-to-you discovery!

The Rules

Send each of your 3 partners a copy of this zine by the deadline. Simple! Unrated newbies with well-filled out profiles are welcome! I will be checking every profile... and I will angel if I have to, but fie on the person who makes it necessary!

Some Tips on Zine-Making for Newbies

  • Making zines is super addicting! I used this video tutorial to learn how to make them.

  • The most important bit about zine construction is getting the spacing right. Make sure to leave a 1/4 inch margin around your paper, as most printers will only be able to print to that margin.

  • Also remember that, if you are printing in black and white, a high contrast in your pictures and writing is better for clear and easy to read zines!

Happy Swapping!

Can there be more than one subject in the zine? (I was thinking maybe a craft and something about my town or a recipe I love)

missmuffcake 12/28/2012 #

when you say mini - are you talking about the one page folded, the quarter size or the digest?

catsandscales 12/28/2012 #

@IdlersDesign - Go for it!

@missmuffcake - One page (8.5X11) folded =)

@catsandscales - Couldn't figure out how to send messages on the site, but I will fill out the profile. Thanks :)

How are you all sending this? In envelopes?

IdlersDesign 01/ 4/2013 #

Yes, I'm sending in an envelope. With a card to say hi to my partners ;-)

catsandscales 01/ 4/2013 #

Yep, in Envelopes!

IdlersDesign 01/ 5/2013 #

Haha and I thought I could squeeze more subjects in one zine. Only one now and I needed all the space I had. Almost done, I'll try to send today :-)

catsandscales 01/ 6/2013 #

Yeah, I totally could have used a whole magazine for my subject, haha. XD

Lorraine, I received yours today! Since I make jewelry, I really enjoyed your "Evolution of a Bead Girl"! No bead shops within 100+ miles of me - I'm not sure if there are any in WV at all. But there is the internet!
