QnT Fancy Hand embroidery name blocks #1

7-11-13 thru 8-3-13

--one partner each month

--one 6 ½ Ò€œ white 100% cotton quilt block embroidered with recipients name in color of that month

Each month we will swap a different colored hand embroidered quilt block featuring the name of your partner. If you do not have an alphabet transfer for the letters you might want to pencil them by freehand on the fabric first. I like to practice making fancy letters on paper first with a regular pencil and then using an erasable (or water soluble) fabric pencil, draw them on the fabric. You may add additional hand embroidery work if you like or even trim, lace or buttons to enhance the name. Remember these are to be fancy hand embroidery blocks.

NOTE: the name and whatever decorations you put on the block should be centered on the block and does not have to fill it up because recipients may want to add more words later

You may do their swap-bot name, or their real first and last name. Senders, be sure to spell the name correctly and do your best work. These should for most part be done in English unless you and your partner agree for it to be otherwise which would require you to communicate with your partner first. Some of us are not trained in other languages.

These blocks will be great to use for lots of different projects such as quilts, labels on hand-made projects, tote bags, mini art quilts, etc.

We will continue the series as long as interest remains.

First month will be REDWORK

2 --next will be BLUEWORK

3 --fall colors

4 -- be a combination of any colors sendersÒ€ℒ choice

5 -- Christmas colors

6 -- recipients choice

7 --recipients choice (color or colors)

8 -- senders choice

I would love for mine to be my first name, rather than my swap-bot name. Thanks.

I plan on using mine on a new quilt as a label. so excited about this swap.....hoping more folks participate and hoping it becomes popular so we can do it again. if not I would be happy doing private swaps with anyone interested.
