Description:

You know how playing cards often show two portraits on the face cards? In this swap we're looking for designs where there is a contrast between two faces or two figures. Your overall design will divide the card in half horizontally, vertically or diagonally. One example might be an angel on the top half and a devil on the bottom half. There are a lot of ways to go with this one -- Good vs Evil, Dark vs Light, Old vs Young, Girl vs Boy, Poor vs Rich, Human vs Monster, Beauty vs the Beast...

You can divide your design vertically, horizontally or diagonally. The only restriction is that your twins must appear on the same face of the card (in other words, you can NOT put one twin on the front and one on the back.) For this swap you will make 2 different ATCs to send to 2 partners -- that's 4 cards total. ATCs must be 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches (the size of a baseball card and mounted on paper or card so they are just as sturdy as a baseball trading card.) Hand drawn, collage, digital, fabric -- all media are welcome. Simply placing a different picture on each half of the card is probably not sufficient -- you're encouraged to include hand-drawn components or apply other special embellishments.

On the back of your card, include your Swap-bot name, your real name, and an email address. If you have a title for your ATC please note that as well. If it is print of several copies you should you number the card (1 of 3, for example.)

I'm giving a close date that's in February so you will have plenty of time to work through the holiday season. I've also started an invitation only Flickr photo sharing pool where you can post your work, what you receive, or exchange ideas.

Users who have demonstrated that they are not good swap partners (2 or more negative Swap-bot ratings or many "no sends") will be removed from the swap. Newbies without a Swap-bot rating are welcome. INTERNATIONAL SWAP

This sounds cool, is it international?

Coffeelatte 12/ 7/2006 #

Yep...it's international. I thought I put that in there, but apparently only had good intentions.

graydragon 12/ 8/2006 #

Ok, should be interesting x

dmg - You're new to Swap-bot, but I've done face to face swaps with you and know that you will surprise and delight this group! I'm so glad you signed up!

Wackystuff - You're sure to come up with some great ideas for this theme, too...

Littledragon...I hope you'll sign on to this one...

I've started working on a couple designs. One is Snow White & Rose Red, the other is a tiny ballerina opposite a big ballerina.

Got any good ones to share?

I made my first 2 cards on real playing cards: are they not the same size as ATC! they are smaller. I don't know if this is only with Dutch/European cards, so I mounted them on a pice of card and now they are the right size! Ready to send them! groeten Francis

Coffeelatte 12/14/2006 #

That's great! Some playing cards are slightly different in size -- you did just what I would do if I had that happen. It is sometimes really great to mount on another piece of card -- you get nice borders!

Hello, all! You might want to swing by the Flickr group pool and check out the light and dark collage ATC that Ophelia posted. I love her work!

Hi Kaity and Allen, your cards will be leaving the Netherlands after Januari 1st: the value of stamps are changing and I can only buy them in a pack of 5. Just to let you know that they are not on your doormat this week!

Francis Paul - Will you get a chance to get photos or scans of your cards before you send? If so, please post to the Flickr gallery...we'd love to see them!

KATHY GOTTFRIED! I just got your 2 ATC and I love them! Quite creative! Is that Demi moore on the left? Also loved how you wove your paper. Great job!!!Thanks! Sue

user5232 02/ 8/2007 #

Sue, yes, that's Demi. The partner card which Cindy got was Gwyneth. I found the crazy lady in a magazine and just loved her eccentricness (is that a word?). Glad you enjoyed them. I had a great time making them.

wackystuff 02/13/2007 #

Thanks for a way above average swap, Coffeelatte!

Coffeelatte 02/17/2007 #

Wow, that means a lot coming from you, wackystuff! It was fun, and I am glad everyone seems to have come through as promised!
