Description:

I am new to the swapping but I adore the postcard swaps and thought I might try running one myself.

I am a huge fan of poetry and would like to combine the poetry and postcard idea.

The idea is to take a poem, or just a quote, something that will fit on a postcard and send it to your swap partners.

Everyone will have three partners and will send one postcard to each partner. The postcards can be store bought, or handmade. The main focus is on the poetry or quote.

International swappers welcome since it is just postcard postage.

I forgot to add, feel free to email me at any time with any questions!!

I don't know if anyone else has had the same problem, but I, and a couple other folks cannot see their swap partners.

I've emailed the contact folks for help to the problem and will update when I know some answers. Thanks for your patience.

Sorry about the delay. If there is a big delay in getting things fixed I may move the mail out date back a bitsy.

Let me know if y'all have some opinions.

Thanks so much for the quick responses to my e-mails...Hope they fix the problem soon. This is a fun swap...

wiccked 01/18/2007 #

I can't see mine either, but there's still heaps of time to mail things out so I'm not worried yet ;)

wiccked 01/18/2007 #

oh.. and just a little proud boasting - scherre (who's also in this swap) - my daughter, Jade - gave birth to her third child, her son, this morning at 5.00am. They're both fine, and are now home safely with Dad and their two daughters.

This is me and him , on flickr.

enakitty 01/18/2007 #

yeah, i can't see my partners either :(

girlzoot 01/18/2007 #

Congratz Melanie!!! Babies make everything better!! 8^)

Just as an aside, I believe it is the total swap. When I went in to check which partners everyone got, to maybe speed things up, those were blank as well.

No email from the help folks yet, so we shall see. I am in school until about nine tonight but will try to let you guys know sometime tomorrow morning.

Have a great day!!

Hey folks, no email as of yet from the swap help desk or whatever, emailed them again this morning.

I am going to try an experiment and make the swap date for today's date and see if that boots us back into the computer to be reassigned for tonight, and gives us new partners.

Cross yoru fingers, otherwise I will wait to hear from the swap helpers.

Hi. It's the 19th and I just signed up. Am I too late?

girlzoot 01/19/2007 #

Amity - I think it will be okay, we are trying to do a reboot and get a reassign of partners.

rain 01/20/2007 #

YAY i can now see my partners - thanks!

Cool, it looks like making the date for today worked, swap away folks! Yippee!

wiccked 01/20/2007 #

very cool!!! got addresses and my cards will be going out today! :)

LMM 01/20/2007 #

This is my first postcard swap...are there any special rules (size) for international cards? TIA

girlzoot 01/20/2007 #

Normal size is good, the only international rules I know is that it does cost more to mail postcards.

Also for any postcards it costs more (about ten cents) if your postcards is thickers than I think it is a 1/4 inch (this is USPS) and is taller or wider than 4x6, those are the only rules I know by heart off hand.

girlzoot 01/21/2007 #

Oh, I got a question today. So to clarify, I think it would be cool if everyone sent a poem or a piece of a poem (quote from a poem), but if you have just a cool quote I think that would be fine, although I would lean towards quoting poetry to stay with the theme of the swap.

Although I think my next swap I think I will do just a quote swap to include all quotable things, not just poetry.

Let me know if anyone has any further questions.

Hello! Who wrote this card: I got a card from the USA today but there is a stamp across the name of the sender; its red, on the front it says "Be thankful for everything for soon there will be nothing", at the back is an interesting quote from Charles Bukowski and it has wonderful comic stamps on it! And its actually typewritten! (I got a typewriter, which does so small letters, too, but I dont use it). I enjoy it! But I dont know who wrote it.

I receeved 2 lovely cards from Mereridkat showing the desert Southwest. One had the very appropriate begining to the Hopi prayer (Do not stand by grave and weep..." and the other had a great quote from Montaigne. Thanks so much!

LMM 02/ 6/2007 #

Another poem in the mail today...this one from drewzel...very cool song lyrics, artfully presented. Thanks!

wiccked 02/21/2007 #
