Some time back, our former member BigHillGoddess posted a link showing a cute way to use up scraps of pretty paper to make refrigerator magnets. Here is the link: http://seilifestyle.blogspot.com/2009/08/magnets-diy-project.html I thought these would be fun to make and swap, so for this swap, you will make one partner 3 fridge magnets in this style--i.e. they don't have to be round, you don't have to sew them, you don't have to go to Starbucks for the coffee sleeves, etc. It would be a good idea to put the ModPodge (or some similar medium) on the fronts for protection, though. The magnets should be 1 - 2 inches across, and fairly sturdy--chipboard or cereal box cardboard would work. Be sure you use a magnet strong enough to hold the finished product onto a refrigerator, it's sad when they slide down & fall off... :( Please PM me with any questions about this swap. Edited to add: A dragonette asked if it would be OK to use a Xyron magnet back/laminate front to finish these--yes, it would indeed. Good suggestion! (image by craft storage ideas--my own paper scraps are nowhere near that neat!!!) |
