Description:

One of my favourite ATC artists has done a series of Altered Business Cards, and they look fabulous. I thought we could make some to swapÒ€¦ So, get 6 business cards and cut, sew, collage, draw, paste, jump up and down on, add stickers to, whatever you like, just make some little works of art!

YouÒ€ℒll have 3 partners and send each 2 altered business cards. They can be your own cards or ones you find anywhere. Start picking up all the business cards you see! So you have to make 9 cards. An average size for a business card is 3 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches. (Or 9 cm x 5.5 cm for us metric folks.)

International swap, all welcome. Remember swap karma, and treat your partner the way youÒ€ℒd like to be treated!

Hey, Drewzal, this appeals to me but I'm curious about how you envision this -- do you favor altering the face of the business card, with the writing on it, or using the back as a blank "canvas"? Also, is there any way to see some images to get an idea of how this person you admire has done it? I do ATCs, so this is not alien to me, but sometimes it helps to see examples to get some inspiration, you know?

Hi Sharon, Check out these pics on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rehuxley/343344105/ These are the ones that inspired me. I was thinking of altering and collaging on the face with the writing on it, because they come in such a variety of designs and colours, but it's really up to you.

i'm confused about the math on this one. 3 partners who get sent 2 cards each is 6 not 9. which one is it? thanks!

This is proving unusually tricky for me... finding a way to 'embellish' a business card without JUST defacing it... I mean, there's some part of me that just wants to do doodles or something. ;) But not being an avid stamper (and thus, having no stamps/embossing stuff) or a sticker person (not many stickers around here) ...I am finding it difficult to embellish them without just... falling into a pattern of marking them up. :P How is everyone else managing this?

Yep it was 6 cards, sorry I can't add up!

I'm just gluing things on, and adding stickers...

Sorry all that I have not sent anything yet. I was on vacation then swamped by work details. That's the only bad thing about leaving for a rest. I will get the ABC's out today to you all.

Altered Business Card swap, and I must say it was a truly innovative and valuable networking experience. In the world of professional connections, first impressions are paramount, and this event allowed us to make a lasting one. The concept of altering business cards takes the traditional exchange to a whole new level. It goes beyond the standard exchange of contact information and creates a memorable and meaningful interaction. What sets this event apart is the seamless integration of technology to enhance the networking process. One particular tool that caught my attention during the event was nfctagify.com and the ability to seamlessly share our digital profiles and business details by simply tapping our NFC-enabled cards was nothing short of remarkable. It eliminated the need for manual input or scanning QR codes, streamlining the process and making it efficient and hassle-free. This innovation not only showcased the organizers' commitment to staying ahead of the curve but also demonstrated their dedication to creating a tech-savvy, professional networking environment. Moreover, the Altered Business Card swap encouraged creativity and personalization, allowing us to showcase our unique talents and skills. It's not just about sharing contact information; it's about making a statement and leaving a lasting impression. The event fostered a sense of camaraderie and collaboration among professionals from various industries, opening doors to potential collaborations and partnerships that may not have otherwise materialized. I was also impressed by the level of organization and attention to detail that went into planning the event. It made the entire process of connecting with fellow professionals both enjoyable and efficient. It's a testament to how technology can enhance and elevate our professional interactions. I look forward to participating in more events like this in the future and continuing to explore the endless possibilities that technology brings to the world of business networking.
