Description:

I had a swapper @marymary914 direct me to a technique. So, here it is.
I left the picture of the tape with the magazine transfer on it placed on my craft sheet. I was afraid it would be too hard to see on a completed ATC.

You will make one ATC for one partner. Find a pretty magazine page or one with lots of words. Either one will give a nice look. On this magazine page, ( I used a glossy page) you will lay your plastic stencil. Over the stencil, you will put down a strip of clear packing tape. The cheap kind works just as well as the expensive stuff. Now keep laying down your tape covering the stencil. Overlap the tape a little onto the previous strip of tape. Brayer over the completed page or use you finger to press the tape securely onto the magazine page.

Soak this magazine page in water for 5 to 7 minutes. Shake off the water a bit & pull the page off of the transfer & the tape off of the stencil. Your tape will have pieces of the magazine stuck to it. Once it dries, this is the piece you will use to make your ATC. Make your interesting ATC & then lay the tape over the ATC. It should be sticky enough to adhere to the ATC or you can add glue dots to hold it down. Cut the tape around your ATC.

You can add embellishments over the top of the tape if you wish. Sometimes, you will need to rub off the wet magazine off the back of the transfer but I have been lucky that the page pulled off easily in one piece.

Not sure what is meant by the stencil ? wouldn't you just place the tape onto the mag image ? looking at the above image and re reading does this mean picking up bits of image through the stencil spaces ???

Yes. You will be picking up small pieces of magazine thru the stencil. I used the Tim Holtz stencil with clocks on it.

It's a good idea to use a sturdy stencil for this, so that when you peel the tape off the stencil, the stencil stays intact.

Thanks... I haven't much in the way of stencils ... am watching for now
