Description:

Let's have fun with colored pencil on sandpaper. Each person will be assigned one partner. Each person will create a standard size ATC card 2 1/2 by 3 1/2. You are to use colored pencil on either sandpaper or Colourfix paper. Hint...very fine grit sandpaper works the best. I have not tried this using Crayola colored pencils or any other student brand pencil so I don't know how well those will work. Test it out before hand. My experience has been with prismacolor colored pencils. The drawings work the best when you add multiple layers of pencil, not just one. Play on a scrap piece first. A website called dickblick.com sells this paper called Colourfix that is already cut to an ATC size if you are interested. If you happen to have any questions then feel free to ask.

What exactly is sandpaper?

Sand paper is a paper coated with sand used to remove rough edges of wood. (Or metal and other surfaces but I believe the wood type is more appropriate here) I believe it is used here to add a lot of pencil colour quickly and provide a very textured surface to work on.

Yes thebragal, that is exactly what sandpaper is used for in this case. It's an interesting surface to work on. Soo many layers can be put on except that it does eat the pencil off quickly.

Any ideas on what will work to fix the colored pencil to the sandpaper? Without buying an expensive fixer?
