Description:

This is a challenge for long-letter fans like myself! :) Only join this swap if you don't mind if your swap partner writes you back! :) It is not required to write your swap partner back, but if you want to, you can. :) This swap is recommended for people who wouldn't mind finding a new snail mail penpal. :)

RULES:

  • Write a long letter to your partner that includes the answers to all 35 items below. They do not have to be answered in order, but be sure to respond to all 35! (Note: Some participants may not be able to handwrite due to health - so typing is acceptable, but please try to write by hand if you are able to do so! :) )

  • At the end of your letter, or throughout your letter, write at least 5 questions you would like to know about your partner.

  • If you want to write back to your partner once you receive your swap, feel free to do so - you then have a new pen pal! :)

  • No one-word answers. Put some effort into your answers - at least write 1 - 2 full sentences in response to each question. :)

  • Your letter MUST be on stationery. Do NOT USE looseleaf, plain white paper, etc.

  • Put some kind of decoration on your envelope so that it is fun to open. :) You can put stickers, for example, or make a drawing on the envelope, use decorative tape, etc. :) It doesn't have to be fully decorated - just put at least one decoration to make it fun.

  • No unrated swappers will be accepted for this since it is a time-consuming swap. Only participants who have completed and have been rated for at least 5 swaps (type 2/3) will be accepted. However, if you are new and would like to do this swap with me privately, I may be able to do that. :)

Please post any questions in the comments of this swap or feel free to send me a message. :) This should be a fun swap.

Is the letter typed out written? And is there a minimum amount of pages?

snailmailsurprise 01/18/2015 #

I received a few messages from people who have trouble with handwriting long letters - I am sympathetic toward that so feel free to type or handwrite the letter. :) The minimum amount of pages is listed in the swap rules - it should be at least 5 half-letter / standard stationery size pages. I don't see how you could answer the 35 with less, haha. :) Thanks!

I hope #2 will be hosted later this year. I would love to take part, but I haven't got enough ratings yet :/

snailmailsurprise 01/24/2015 #

@puolipilvista - Sure, I may be able to host a second one later on in the year! :) You should check out some other swaps in the meantime, though! There are plenty that allow unrated swappers if you go to "Find Swaps" and then select "Newbie" in the category drop-down. :)

Stationary - is that only store bought pre-printed paper? Or can it be decorated and designed (by myself) paper that I printed out? (I love designing pages in Indesign). Or when you decorate white paper? Just wanting to make sure!

snailmailsurprise 01/26/2015 #

It can be decorated by you. :) Just no plain white or looseleaf. :)

Poftoffel 01/26/2015 #

Okay thanks! :D

Just FYI for the group, I sent out an e-mail today reminding everyone that tomorrow is the swap deadline! :) I really enjoyed this swap ~ thanks to everyone who participated. :)

@thegypsie - thanks! :) I thought it was a lot of fun, too! :)
