1 handmade item (handmade by you or another person)

1 pampering item (ex. bath items, oils, nice chocolate)

1 rare craft item (ex. unusual paper or fabric, hand-dyed yarn, funky buttons, beads, bakelite knitting needles)

1 knitting related item (ex. needles, pattern, yarn, stitch markers...whatever you want)

1 magazine back issue

The price should be a minimum of $25 US (before postage). You can really use your imagination here ladies...handmade soap, funky stitch markers, an assortment of buttons, magnets, minature anything, aprons, mittens, jewelry, hair accessories, cool paper, lip balm, pot holders, stuffies, personalized tote, etc...

Wouldn't one vintage item be the same as one rare craft item? Could you provide an example of these two items? I'd like to sign up but find those 2 requirements a bit daunting b/c I don't know where I would find them. Thanks!

user4386 01/31/2007 #

A vintage item should actually be old (not antique old...it could be a cool 70's coaster or 60's apron or even a doily). A rare craft item just means it can't be something that you could find in any store (wal-mart for example). I have these really cool buttons that I'm going to use for my rare craft item. Hope that helps!

Hi! I have a doubt. Magazine back issue means an antique magazine or an antique edicion, number? Sorry, I speak spanish :p Thanks! Winnie

kueali 01/31/2007 #

As I read it a back issue could be last year or 100years ago! Alison

New swappers are also welcome.

I'm a new swapper to this site. I've done a successful crafster swap before and that was fun. This one looks great!

Hi this sounds like a great swap and being a craft dilettante I'd love to participate ... however I was wondering if you would consider some different options on the "knitting related item" ... knitting is one of the few things I have personally have very limited interest in and could not chose something great for a knitter nor would I want to add anything that I can't use to my own clutter :-). Maybe we could all list our most favorite craft and the swap partner could send something appropriate to that ..,. or maybe you only want knitters in this swap :-).

ameliaanne 02/18/2007 #

I agree with Sharon's post about not really being big on knitting. I knit in a limited sense (scarves and simple hats), and would be happy to recieve lovely yarn, but if we are lising our favorite craft then mine is sewing. I am looking forward to putting this package together!

user4386 02/18/2007 #

Sharon & ameliabarnaby...

if you like sewing, make a knitting bag or a knitting needle organizer/carrier. don\'t forget to contact your partner, and if you can work something out with them (if they are not interested in receiving a knitting related item), then great. You could also just throw in a ball of yarn. You could find a cute knitting pattern and send that to them. The options are endless, even if you aren\'t so into knitting.

user5257 02/18/2007 #

Hi, I\'m not really a knitter, but I do use nice yarn in other projects, so please no knitting patterns or stitch markers. Thank You:)

user6288 02/18/2007 #

i am know and very excited about this swap! I just sent off my first two swaps here on swap bot... i can hardly wait to get started!!!

user5648 02/19/2007 #

How old does an object need to be to be vintage? Is 30 years enough?

user5648 02/19/2007 #

The magazine: should it be something crafsty? That is ok, but I do not have knitting magazines. Or is it free which kind of magazine it is? For me: you can look at my comments in the international magazine swap to see what I like. I have started to learn knitting so knitting magazines would be fine, too (not too dificult, please).

user5648 02/19/2007 #

The small item: it is a gift and not a craft item, right?

user6073 03/ 9/2007 #

Silvia -- I sent yours 2 days ago. The Post Office said it should be there in about 7-10 days.

user5648 03/10/2007 #

I am not feeling comfortable with my partner. Many 1s. I think I will wait if her rating improves. I do not want to send to a flaker. Maybe she is, maybe she is not. I think I better wait a bit.

user5648 03/10/2007 #

If you send to me, please let me know so that I do not have to worry that I got a flaker!

honeybknits 03/10/2007 #

babblingpanda- I am sending on Monday. :) I will let you know the DC as soon as it goes out. :)

user5648 03/12/2007 #

Sorry if I made myself unclear: I do not know who will send to me. But what worries me more is: I know to whom I shall send but she has so manny 1s that I fear she might be a flaker. I want to wait if her partner receives from her. If not I better send to her partner. I will ask the coordinator who she is supposed to send to. Or would it be ok too to ask openly in the comment section: Did you receive from ...?

ameliaanne 03/12/2007 #

ninjaprincess---i sent your swap out this morning. Sorry (a day late) but there isn't any post on sundays! I hope you enjoy it!

user5648 03/19/2007 #

Hi! I see who is my partner and it is marked as sent so hopefully I will not be stiffed on this swap. I will not send to stargirl. Who should have gotten something from her? I do not think she will send so I want to send to whom she was supposed to sent to.

ceske 03/19/2007 #

Oh no, hkstar was meant to send to me and it says 'not sent' next to her name, she has a very low rating and her profile has been deleted... what a shame, this was the first swap i joined.

ninjaprincess 03/19/2007 #

what if 8 people tell you that stargirl was supposed to send to them

honeybknits 03/19/2007 #

I received a wonderful package. Lovely lotions, handmade bowl ( my husband was tres` inpressed with that!) knitting needles ( I always need them) beautiful vintage napkins! I am happily spoiled. :)

user5648 03/20/2007 #

Hi! Please leave a rating for stargirl for this swap then I can see who should have received from her!

ameliaanne 03/23/2007 #

I am so disappointed! I was supposed to recieve from 'sascha' who has low ratings and has since deleted her profile. what a let down for such an involved swap...

hanjiwest 03/24/2007 #

Babbling Panda,

I received a cool crafty package today from you...I have uploaded an image! Thanks!!!

Jensenaddict 04/ 7/2007 #

Hi Murmel,

I was supposed to have received from stargirl but I did not get even a message from her. Boy, am I glad I sent to my person via surface mail, but it's kind of sad. My spring hand dyed yarn sender also flaked out. Sigh.
