October... The countdown to Halloween begins.. October 31...

This swap is basically like the Christmas advent swaps, but this one is HALLOWEEN! You will fill 30 envelopes with something for your partner to read and a small flat surprise. For the 31st, you will send your partner a Halloween card and a present worth a minimum of $3.00. All of the items will be Halloween themed or in some way related to Halloween. The envelopes you use can be store bought or handmade. You do not need to number your envelopes unless you choose to.

When sending things to read, you must include a letter about a favorite Halloween memory and in a second letter (envelope), include how you celebrate Halloween. The other 28 envelopes are up to you.

Examples of things to read are Halloween history, poems, scary short stories, song lyrics to your favorite Halloween hit or a list of favorite Halloween songs, a list of favorite horror films, recipes, Halloween jokes, information about mythical creatures, your favorite Halloween costume...

When sending items for your partner to read, some items may be shorter such as recipes. Be sure to include some longer items for your partner to read, such as a short story that is a couple of pages long. Also, do not send 31 recipes for your partner. Mix things up by sending a variety of Halloween articles.

Examples of flat surprises are sticker sheets, die cuts, stamped images, Halloween images, bookmarks, postcards, memo sheets, wooden craft die cuts, decorated paper, ribbon, tags, ATC's, note cards, buttons, washi tape samples...

Include a nice surprise for your partner. If you are sending buttons, send at least 5. For ribbon, send 12 inches. For die cuts, send 2. For memo sheets, send 5. ATC's, bookmarks, postcards, note cards and sticker sheets, you would need to send only 1. Please just think about what you are sending and send an amount your partner will be able to use. Do not send paper scraps or magazine cut outs. Also, send a variety of flat surprises. Do not send all of one thing. And no two days should have the exact same item. For example, you may send several days of stickers, but do not send the same sticker sheets. Each must be different.

Surprises must have a Halloween theme and can be store bought or nicely handmade. All items are sender's choice, so you may begin getting your swap together as soon as you sign up. NO food items for this swap.

You will send:

  • 30 envelopes filled with something Halloween related to read and a flat Halloween themed surprise

  • The 31st you will include a Halloween card and a Halloween themed gift worth at least a minimum of $3.00.

What a challenge this is! I found a shoe box and will start by collecting envelopes of different sizes as my foundation. That could change, but its a start. I would welcome reading ideas other swappers have.

I was hoping that was fine too. A great collection of different sized envelopes, decorated and fitting all kinds of different little fun and spooky surprises.

Any size envelopes are fine. They can all be the same or all be different. I hope you are both having as much fun as I am working on this swap! :)

When you say no paper scraps, does that include ATC size papers? I know I would like to get some different papers, but I don't know about everyone else.

ATC size papers would be fine. I should have put nothing smaller than an ATC. Ooops!

For whoever sends to me (I know this is a sender's choice, but I also know lots of people still look at profiles), my profile says no ATC's, but I would love to receive some Halloween ones to display during the season. So feel free to include ATC's if you make them. :)

I am so happy to see many in this swap! There are 8 & lots watching! I hope you are all as excited as I am! :)

I've been looking for the perfect "big" Halloween swap, and I think this is it! It's certainly challenging...31 envelopes with stuff inside!!! But I'm totally up for this and excited too - Halloween!! Yay!!! =)

I have a question - By "flat" surprises, can we literally push the envelope and include small 3-D items as long as they fit well inside the envelope? I can find or create lots of fun small objects that will fit inside the business sized envies I'm using, but thinking of 30 "flat" items might be kind of difficult.

It would be fine to send items that are 3-D. I hope you will have lots of Halloween fun creating your envies! :)
