Description:

Hello. For this swap you will fill a priority flat rate "padded" envelope or the equivalent. This is the 9.5 x 12.5 padded envelope. So you just need to fill a 9 x 12 "padded" envelope in order to meet the requirements but flat rate will save you money. You can grab your envelope and start filling it immediately. You can fill it with snacks, craft items , stationery, ephemera, recipe, coupons, trinkets, bath products, makeup, jewelry, books, art items, travel literature, postcards, pens, pencils, handmade items, the possibilities are endless. The envelope should be stuffed to it's fullest capacity and reinforced with tape. It is sender's choice but please send decent items and check for allergies on food and check expiry dates. Do not send garbage or your junk. Nothing smelly or old only useful goods. The rating requirements are 4.98.

Important Information:

You must put a minimum of 12 items in the envelope. If your post office does not carry the padded 9 x 12 then you can use a regular padded 9 x 12 or a regular 9 x 12 to meet the requirements. It has to be a padded envelope. The postage for a padded priority flat rate envelope is $6.10 irregardless of the weight.

forewarning: if you reinforce a flat rate envelope more than a single strip of tape, the usps can charge you based on weight. they figure, if you have to tape it that much, it really didn't fully "fit' in the flat rate envie, so it nullifies the flat rate... At least, it always did at my post office. maybe not all of them use this rule, but unless you know for sure, be aware this may happen. good luck! :D

Can I use a small flat rate box?

dalbright 09/ 6/2015 #

@dreamerkins Your post office is ringing your package up wrong. Flat rate means flat rate and should not cost anymore regardless of weight or tape. I would say something if they try making you pay extra again. I'm sorry this happened to you. Hope this helps. DEbbie

I like to tape the HECK out of my packages, and yes, my PO said that if I use tape on all the edges sometimes, They think I couldnt get it closed. This was when i was using the universal flat rate chip board like envelope and was mailing books overseas. I just didnt want to see it get damaged and have the contents to fall out. They didnt charge me extra just warned me.

They never overcharge me @dreamerkins . It is always $6.10 or cheaper if you use click n ship. @Nellie1 you need to use the size envelope specified in the swap requirements. A small flat rate box does not hold as much as an envelope of the size specified. You can use a regular 12 x 9 padded envelope. The requirement is 12 items in the envelope but it is best to fill these as much as possible. If you do not like the requirements or have any issues then let me know. These have been fun swaps for the past 2 we have held.

I have to see whether I can get one of these envelopes before the deadline. My post office doesn't carry them and I don't want to pay extra postage for a regular envelope. Will watch for now.

@Swan you can order them off of USPS.com they come pretty fast. If you need an extension let me know.

Today is the last day to sign up because I have to go out of town tomorrow.

nmlacagno 09/12/2015 #

My post office doesn't have the padded flat rate. So I used a unpaded one. I hope that's ok. I went to both post offices we have in my town.

@nmlacagno you have to order them offline or recycle one that you have been sent something in.
