Get ready to put something super special together for your swap partner!

~Swap-Bot is such a lovely place! So many kind, thoughtful and upbeat swappers here! Though it's often hard to know what other swappers are going through in their own lives. Sometimes we struggle with our emotions, our health, family, friends, work, etc. So I decided to create this swap to put a smile on someone else's face! Lets encourage each other to continue to push forward, stay positive, and really let ourselves shine! So what do you think, ready to make someones day?!~

For this swap we'll be creating a single whimsy jar for our 1 partner. This will be PROFILE BASED! Meaning all items you include should be relative to your partners profile likes, interests etc. PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF YOUR PARTNERS DISLIKES/ALLERGIES! Our jars/containers should be roughly the size of a standard 16oz Mason Jar. I am allowing a good amount of time for sign ups as well as a month after partners are assigned so we may begin to gather items for them at a more relaxed pace. We will also decorate the lid to our whimsy jar after we've filled it! Cover it in fabric with lace, or decorative gems, or even decoden it with whip/cabochons, whatever your heart desires! Your decorations should also have to do with your partner in a way, for example if they like Lilacs, you could use a fabric with lilacs on it to decorate the lid, use their favorite colors, etc. The last thing we'll do for this swap is create a personalized tag for your whimsy jar, to tie around the jars mouth! On this tag lets write a positive quote, sentance, or inspiring phrase to brighten and boost our partners spirit! On the back of the tag, Include both your Swap-Bot name and the name of this swap.

So that's it!

16oz mason jar (or equivalent)

Filled with tons of goodies for your partner (see below for suggestions)

Decorate the lid

Tie a tag to the mouth of your jar, with an inspiring or positive message on it :)

Pack nicely and send!

For those who are unfamiliar with Mason Jars = (The specs are: Capacity: 16 oz (1 Pint), Dimensions: 5 1/8"H with lid (5"H without lid), and Jar Opening: 70 mm or 2 1/2" Diameter (Regular Mouth). * Includes - (1) Ball Jar Canning Lid.)

Of course glass jars can be heavy, so plastic containers would be suitable as well.

Items that you may include:

Tiny figures or toys relating to your partners likes!

Keychains or cell phone charms relating to some of your partners interests

Ribbon or washi tape samples! (let's keep them at least 2 feet long for samples!)

Stickers that your partner would enjoy, or stickers featuring your partners favorite things!

You could create phone charms or keyrings out of polymer clay or resin and include some of those!

You could include inchies or little tiny papercrafts!

Candies or tiny snacks that your partner would enjoy!

Cabochons, buttons, or decorative gems!

These are just suggestions. There's tons of things you could add! Use your imagination ^_^ Of course handmade goodies are welcome if you'd like, though please do your best!

Please do your best when putting together these whimsy jars! The point is to put a smile on your partners face, and really make their day! Put together something that you would enjoy receiving, something that you're super proud to share with someone else! We want to warm our partners heart with our lovely package!

I'm going to make the sign up and send offs quite far off so there's plenty of time to sign up, gather lovely items and decorate your jar, and send it on it's way!

I will be very diligent while checking profile for this swap, since there is a lot involved. No participants with ratings lower than 4.99, must have 50 completed type 2/3 swaps with positive ratings under your belts, and no recent 1s or 3s. (Recent = within 1 year) I reserve the right to ban as needed, and I WILL do so.

Also, this swap IS USA only however due to the size of the jar, and depending if you use a glass or plastic jar this will be a bit heavy, so please be mindful of shipping costs, as they will cost much more to send than some of our smaller or lighter swaps!

If I've missed anything, or if you have any questions or comments, feel free to let me know!

This is US only though any of my International swappers feel free to create an Int version if you'd like!

I have a bunch of mason type glasses could I use one of those? Here is a picture of what they look like for the most part.

Stuckinsideacloud 05/17/2017 #

@LunaMoody - Sure! As long as they size up roughly the same as the jar style masons I think those would be just fine ^_^ Thank you for asking!

Hello everyone! I am currently looking over profiles before I assign partners today. I have already noticed several swappers who have joined, that do not meet the requirements I've requested for this swap, in particular the "must have 50 completed type 2/3 swaps with positive ratings under your belts" requirement. I am removing any participants who have not completed 50 type 2/3 swaps, and likewise for any participants who did not meet any other requirements I've requested above. I apologize to anyone I have removed who was looking forward to this swap, I know it can be frustrating for new or less seasoned swappers when requirements are so strict, but please understand these requirements are included to protect other swappers, and as hosts it is not uncommon to place high requirements for such a time consuming and costly swap. So that being said I'd be happy to see you in any future swaps when at that time you do meet the listed requirements :)

Thank you all for your understanding!

Hello all!! I've received a couple requests to push the send by date a few days farther out. And as I do understand that the end of the month can get a bit hectic, I've agreed to make the send by date a few days after the original send by date of the 30th. I do thank you all for your understanding, and am looking forward to all of these lovely packages being sent out and on their way to their partners! If anyone has anymore questions, please feel free to PM me or comment here as well ^_^

Just realized that Tuesday is the 4th of July!!! (Where has the time gone?!) I was planning on making the send by extension on Tues, but due to Tues being a holiday, I'll go ahead and make it Wed the 5th. I hope this is alright with everyone, I know many of us are patiently waiting our packages, but I wanted to assure that all of our participants would be able to send on time, and since I had received a couple requests for a short extension, I thought it would be best to give it a few more days. Thank you again for your understanding! <3

Hello again all!! I've decided to write a little disclaimer, as some points have been brought to my attention regarding some of these jars that have begun to be received.

  1. Items inside the jar are profile based, meaning the items were to be chosen, BASED off of your partners likes, and things on their profile. They do not have to be EXACTLY items mentioned on your partners profile. For example, if your partner stated they enjoy the color pink, and you sent them a pink flower button, that item WOULD be within the guidelines, because it was chosen based on your partners enjoyment of the color pink. Another example is on MY PERSONAL PROFILE, I have listed that I like anime. I do have some specifics listed as well, however, because I've listed anime in general as one of my likes, receiving anything anime related at all would be considered appropriate, even if it was an anime I don't particularly like, because it was BASED on my interest in anime in general. I hope that clears up some specifics in regards to what is meant by profile based. Choosing items BASED on the likes and interests listed on your partner's profile. And of course, refraining from including anything listed on any DISLIKE lists.

  2. As long as the items included are based on your likes and interests, your partner HAS followed the directions, and they would deserve a rating of a 5. If you don't want to leave a heart, that's fine, but if it's within guidelines, and shipped on time, it's still deserving of a 5. 3s are generally reserved for not following directions, or sending super late. If you don't particularly enjoy every item, as long as the items can be justified by your likes and interests, it is not a reason to rate down. Example, if you listed the color PINK on your likes, and your partner sent you a pink button, please do not rate them down just because you do not like buttons. The item was pink, and was based off of your listed interest in the color pink.

  3. I understand this instruction is after the fact, however it has come to my attention that some of us may have not known how whimsy jar is made. Whimsy Jars construction, whimsy jars are made by layering items on top of each other freely within a jar or cup like holder, usually starting with the tiniest of items on the bottom of the jar, like beads or small stones, then dropping in some larger items like buttons or pins, then larger yet like small figures or wrapped candies, then larger yet like keyrings or lipbalms, and so on. The idea is to layer items freely inside the jar, so when you look at the jar they look like lovely little layers of pretty things, and then you open them and look at each item and smile. There are many examples of whimsy jars within the Google search images, as well as on Pinterest. If your partner followed these guidlines, they should be rated a 5 accordingly. I know these jars may seem a bit messy since everything is floating in the jar together, but that is the idea. So that the tiny things can settle at the bottom of the jar, and the larger things remain at the top. Each item is not meant to be wrapped individually, that sort of defeats the purpose, and also the wrapping would take up space that could otherwise be used to put other tiny things in. Of course wrapping something delicate is fine, a great way to protect it, but you certainly wouldn't have to wrap each thing on it's own. That'd be more of a surprise jar ^_^ lol

I hope this will help you all out when it comes time for you to rate your partners. Please keep in mind, I designed this swap to be a fun way to make eachother smile, this was indeed profile based, BASED being the key word. We do our best to choose things we think each other will like, as long as we went off of things BASED off of eachother's likes, we've done a good job :)

Feel free to ask my any further questions, though please understand, I created these swaps to end early July, because I will be taking vacations for the next two months, so I will do my best to respond to any inquiries/messages, though I will not be online every day due to my travels. Thank you all and I hope you've had fun with this one! Remember, we're trying to bring a smile to eachother!
