Description:

I used to run this swap in another group I founded a few years ago. It was always fun, so I thought I would try it in this group.

This will be a continuing series of swaps, in which we will end up with tags that can then be tied together or put on a ring to create a small eclectic journal. We will be building our little journal 1 tag at a time. You could also just tuck your tags into a pocket in your journal, or smash them in.

You can use a premade shipping tag, or make a sturdy tag in the shape of a premade one. Don't forget to reinforce the hole at the top if you create your own, so that it's sturdy.

You will be decorating your tag on both sides. Most of your work should be on the front, but the back should be very lightly decorated. Feel free to use paints, inks, papers, ephemera, drawing, rubber stamping, collage, etc. You may add extra little decorative bits like a little pocket, fibers, or paper clip. You may want to leave a bit of space so that your partner can write on her tag if she wishes.

The tag you use should be around the size of a NO. 5 shipping tag, which is 4 3/4" X 2 3/8. Bigger would also be acceptable, but your tag shouldn't be any smaller. I think that a few different size tags would be nice to give the journal some interest and a more eclectic feel.

This is completely sender's choice, so let your creativity shine! You need not be an artist, but you will need to put some time and thought into creating your tags. No sticker slapping! Send your best work :) When sending, please secure your tag safely in the envelope to minimize chance of damage.

Be sure to include a note with your swap-bot name and the name of the swap.

Happy creating!
