Description:

For this swap, which hopefully, will be ongoing, you will create a back and a front for a Magpies journal that will be filled as life takes us along. How does that sound?? I find in my small town there isn't that much to fill an entire journal so with this swap we will be filling it along as we go. Ok, here are the bits and parts. That is what Magpies are about, right? *****Skinny made the point that the placement of the holes should be consistent also...so we will make them 1 inch from the left side***** Thanks, Skinny!! For the first part, you will create a journal Front and Back to put pages in. We will make them 6 1/2 Γ— 4 1/2 inches. Now, different pages will be created by different partners all along. You will decorate the front as creatively as you can. The back will be covered with pretty paper but not embellished nearly as much as the front. Use a heavy cardstock, cereal box, y'all know what makes a good front and back.!!! Measure carefully so both will be the same size, ok? Since we will be adding pages along, we will use the same format. On the left side of the front and back covers, measure an inch from the top and bottom and punch a hole. In doing this, it will create a "universal or standard place to punch the pages as we go along. Then add ribbon or ring binder rings to keep the journal together.. This is what you will swap for the first time. Just the cover!! Remember to make it lovely, something you would love to have as your journal.
I am sorry if these instructions seem to involved--but I am a retired first grade teacher and detailed directions are embedded in my soul!

I understand about punching the hole one inch from the top and bottom...but...how far in from the long side should they be? Thanks!

Same question as @skinny52 However if we are hole punching it that means we are providing the ribbon/ rings for the back and front cover when we send it out to our partners? If there is any tutorial for this out there can you share it?

Forgive me if this is a silly question but... is the cover supposed to be 6 1/2 across x 4 1/2 up/down (like a sideways picture) or it the 6 1/2 the length of the book up/down?

I got the measurements Im just having trouble figuring out where to punch the wholes I have not yet punched them in hopes you can help me. I made a little layout but can't post the picture here I'm more than willing to email it to you. It's practically the same question as @tam2016
