There are 24 chapters of Luke. We will be studying six chapters per swap, so we will have a total of 4 swaps. This is part two, focusing on Luke, chapter 7 through 12.

For each chapter, several questions are provided below. You must answer three of the questions. You can choose to answer more, but to fulfill the requirements of this swap, you have to answer a minimum of three questions per chapter. Make sure you copy down the question as well, so your partner knows which questions you are answering.

Send the study to your partner by the deadline.

You may type the questions, but your answers must be handwritten.

Chapter 7

  1. What does verse six reveal about the centurion’s character? What do verses 7-8 reveal about his faith?

  2. How did Jesus describe John the Baptist? And how was he different from Christ?

  3. What can verse 22 tell us about the purpose of miracles?

  4. What did the woman offer Jesus that the Pharisee didn’t?

Chapter 8

  1. Who were the women who traveled with Jesus, and how did they help?

  2. What do the birds, the seeds, the soil, and the thorns each symbolize?

  3. What does a lamp on a stand represent?

  4. Where did they meet the demon-possessed man? Why was his name Legion?

  5. How many people did Jesus raise from the dead? Can you list them?

Chapter 9

  1. What power did Jesus give to the twelve disciples?

  2. What were they instructed to leave behind while on their journey?

  3. What are some of the rumors that Herod heard in verses 7-8?

  4. Where did the feeding of the 5,000 take place?

  5. What does it take to be a disciple?

  6. Why was it important for these three disciples to witness the transfiguration?

  7. Who appeared with Jesus at the transfiguration?

  8. What does Jesus reveal about His upcoming anguish and death in this chapter?

Chapter 10

  1. How many disciples did Jesus send out in this chapter?

  2. Why did he instruct them not to take a purse, a bag or sandals?

  3. Who were the three people who passed by the man on the road?

  4. The Jews and the Samaritans had long been at odds with each other. What significance, if any, does that have with this story?

  5. Jesus told Martha that Mary chose well. What did she choose? What is the one thing that we all need to put first? Quote the scripture found in this chapter.

Chapter 11

  1. What does the Lord’s prayer teach us about the way we should pray? What does the story of the three loaves teach us about prayer? What 3 things does verse nine tell us to do? What do you think these three represent?

  2. Who does Jesus define as blessed in verse 28?

  3. What can we learn from verse 34?

Chapter 12

  1. Why is hypocrisy compared to yeast in verse one?

  2. What does this chapter teach us about the incredible love of God?

  3. What can the parable of the rich fool teach us?

  4. What hope does this chapter offer to those who worry?

  5. What did Jesus mean when He said, “I am come to send fire on the earth”?

  6. What does this chapter teach us about preparing our hearts for His coming?
