A few years ago I hosted several "New to this craft" swaps that allowed swappers to try something new!
If you have wanted to "try" your hand at a Chunky Page (or had no idea what they were!) but were afraid too, here is your chance!!
The Swap Info:
The swap will be USA only as this will be more than standard postage to send (feel free to make an International version!!) You will make 1 chunky page for 3 partners. This may sound overwhelming, but since it is not profile specific, you can get started on it now! You can make all the pages the same for your various partners, or all different. This is entirely up to you. What I like to do, is make one for myself as well, and add this to the pages I receive! The pages should all have a Halloween based theme. Nothing too gory, but spooky is ok! Pages MUST be 4 1/2" x 4" on HEAVY paper (must be able to withstand all the embellishments). Heavy watercolor paper works well, as by the time you add your colored card stock, it increases the thickness. The Other Stuff
It is very important that you stick to the page size guidelines. The pages should be 4.5 inches across and 4 inches down with 0.5 inches free to the left of the page for binding. Failure to do this will get you a 3 rating. A page that can't be uniformly bound into a book at the end of the series is of no use to your partner. You must have a rating of 4.9 or above with no recent no-sends. Please have 5 completed and rated mail swaps. I reserve the right to ban anyone who I feel might be a problem swapper without giving an explanation as to why you were banned!! My expectation on ratings is a 5 for on time chunky pages that meet the size, page number and other requirements; a 3 for late, too small, or pages not up to page requirements; a 1 for no pages at all! More Info on Chunky Pages:
Please do not make your card just on flimsy card stock, it needs to have a "thicker base". I've used "re-cycled" cereal boxes, heavy watercolor, etc, as a base, then cover it with pattern paper. The back page should be decorated as well. However, the backside does not need heavy embellishments. Please make sure the backside has the swap info listed (similar to an ATC). The pages should be embellished with ribbons, buttons, tags, charms, etc..etc.. (Which is why they are called CHUNKY pages!!) The pages should be embellished to the extent that (when bound) the book does not close. If it does, than it isn't "chunky" enough! Chunky page sizes can vary, however, THIS swap requires the book to be 4.5" (across) and 4" (up and down). Also, do NOT forget to leave .5" on the left hand side so that the book can later be bound. This means it can have patterned paper, stamped image, etc, but no heavy embellishments in this 1/2 inch area. Do NOT punch holes, etc. in left hand margin for binding, Not everyone binds their books the same way. Please use GOOD glue or you can decoupage it, as you would hate for your embellishments to fall off!!
