Description:

International Quirkyalone Day [February 14] is approaching, and I thought it'd be kind of fun to celebrate it with a swap. You'll just have one partner this time. Here's what you should do: send some kind of surprise package celebrating quirkyaloneness. You can send a big envelope or a box or some kind of quirky packaging, like a 2-liter bottle..whatever strikes your fancy. Anyway, fill it up with some really fun things for your new friend, anything you can think of that fits the theme. You can make a mix cd, you can send quirkyalone merch, the manifesto [but you might want to check ahead of time if you're thinking about this, in case your partner already owns it], fun handmade things, altered valentines..I'm not going to put a dollar amount on this swap because of how flexible it is, but please make sure you send a nice package that you'd be happy to receive. Open to swappers 4.8+..I decided to open this up to international swappers. You can still keep your postage light, just be a little creative :)

ABOUT QUIRKYALONES "Quirkyalones are people who enjoy being single (but are not opposed to being in a relationship) and prefer being single to dating for the sake of being in a relationship. Quirkyalone is not anti-love. It is pro-love. It is not anti-dating. It is anti-compulsory dating. We tend to be romantics. We prefer to be single rather than settle. In fact, the core of quirkyalone is the inability to settle. We spend a signficant chunk of our lives single because we hold relationships to a high standard. Are quirkyalones loners? Not necessarily. Quirkyalones often value friendship very highly. We're often very social people. But we do value occasional solitude. Quirkyalones are often creative and need time alone to allow thoughts to fully form..."

ABOUT INTERNATIONAL QUIRKYALONE DAY "International Quirkyalone Day is a do-it-yourself celebration of romance, friendship, and independent spirit. It's a celebration of all kinds of love: romantic, platonic, familial, and yes, self-love. International Quirkyalone Day is not anti-Valentine's Day. It's NOT a pity party for single people. It's an alternative--a feel-good alternative to the marketing barrage of Valentine's Day and an antidote to the silicone version of love presented in shows such as Hooking Up and The Bachelor. Above all, IQD is a celebration of romance, freedom and individuality. It celebrates true romance (as opposed to the fake versions presented to us in reality dating shows), independence, creativity, friendship, and all kinds of love--including love for yourself. If you are single, International Quirkyalone Day is a call to arms to celebrate the possibilities available to single people today. If you are partnered, IQD is a vital reminder to value yourself and develop your individuality even when in a couple."

Thanks for opening up to international. I'm watching and may sign up closer to date. I have reached my swap limit at the moment. :-)

I'm gonna watch this for now - I'm pretty new to being a quirkyalone, I literally just ended a relationship because I didn't want to "settle", but before that I was "settling" in different relationships since I was like 14 (I'm 18 now, so I've pretty much had back-to-back relationships for 4 years). So, a bit closer to the date, I'll see if I'm ready to full embrace my quirkyaloneness, since it's so newly acquired! I'm learning how to be by myself.

This sounds like so much fun! How did I know about this group. I am a single mom and have been alone for over 6 years, I ended my marriage because we just were there. Not happy not sad just there....settled I guess you call it. Now I go to school and take care of my son and I have found I don't really want to put up with dating, looking or anything else. I am happy to be able to knit when I feel like it, and not have to cater to anyone else's wants and needs.....well other than my son's! That sounds selfish doesn't it....oh well. HHHMM may have shared to much....anyway thanks for this swap I wouldn't have known anything about the group with out it!

Amy :)
