Description:

For this swap we will recreate the old times fans that women used in years gone by. I have the pattern and will gladly mail one to you if you would like to join. The blades of the fan will be covered in pretty Christmas scrapbook papers, back and front. The front will be embellished with laces, ribbons, and rhinestones or pearls. Just be creative and neat with your creations. There would be 5 pieces or blades to create the fan. I made one at Valentineโ€™s Day and it turned out really pretty. You can display them on a small plate holder once yours is done. Join in and have fun!!

hi, is there a picture of this somewhere so I can get an idea of what it should look like, or can you tell me what materials i would need to create the base? Thank you :)

I'd like to see what one looks like..if it's a small fan, I might be interested in trying this! I checked YouTube but the only fan tutorials I found were for folded Japanese fans.

The base of the blades are stiff card stock. They are cut individually and decorated. Then they are attached with ribbon to make it appear as if they open like the old Spanish fans ladies used to use. The blades are about 5 โ€œ long. I did one for Valentineโ€™s Day and it turned out nicely. I really donโ€™t have a source that you can go to to see one. If you are interested send me your address and I will send you a pattern for the blades and you can see from that if you want to join in our not. Thanks!!

ok, I can picture this... I once had an ivory fan that was my grandmother's . I gave it to a friend's daughter who was born on my grandmother's birthday...the oddest thing, both the girl and my grandmother made prize winning flower arrangements! This gal worked a semester, went to college a semester, and graduated with a degree in horticulture after 6 years...really impressive that she didn't owe any money when she graduated and paid for her entire education herself... not that this has anything to do with anything...lol

I'd like to try - just don't want someone to have really high expectations! I swear I'll do my best... but I've never made one before, so....
