The challenge for this swap is to make Artist Trading Cards inspired by those trashy paperback book covers from the mid 20th century. Let's make 2 ATCs each for 3 swap partners (6 cards in all). All media welcome. This is an international swap. Adults only, not for the easily offended. You could use real covers for inspiration or make up your own titles. Before reality TV, computer games or Quentin Tarantino movies, many folks in the 1940s, 50s and 60s received their popular culture fix from a different type of "pulp fiction." These books had bold sexy covers, were printed on cheap รขโฌลpulpรขโฌ? paper, and were cranked out by the thousands. Older players may remember the lurid soft-X-rated paperbacks-titles like Topless Waitress, Lake of Lust, and Casting Couch that crowded the shelves of newsstands and adult bookstores in the 1960s. What most distinguished these paperbacks wasn't their narratives but their frequently amazing covers printed in soul-shocking colors. There are tons of examples on the internet. Here is one link: http://www.placeboma.com/lustypulp/Misc.html I've posted a picture of a real cover. ATC is short for Artist Trading Card. This is a great format for artists and creative people to trade their artwork. The rules are simple: 1. These cards must be 2.5รขโฌ? by 3.5รขโฌ? (the size of a baseball card). 2. They are traded but not sold. This is a free exchange of art. Pretty radical actually. 3. These are CARDS, they shouldnรขโฌโขt be flimsy. On the back, put your contact information. Please put your swap-bot name somewhere on the card or envelope so the receiver can thank you. You can also sign, date and add a title on the back. There are web sites and live trading session where folks exchange ATCs. You can see some of my ATCs on my favorite trading site (if you sign up, tell รขโฌหem wackystuff sent you): http://www.atcards.com/gallery/browseimages.php?do=member&imageuser=1400 |
