Description:

Hi, this swap is for Christians that believe what the bible says about Jesus. That He left the glory of heaven and came down to earth to live as humans so that He would understand our trials and heartaches. He was perfect. He knew we were lost in our sins and loved us enough to come. He was tempted in every way which He could have, but did not sin. He was born of a virgin, who had been impregnated by God the Holy Spirit. He suffered for all of mankind's sins on the cross of calvary. He was beaten and his flesh torn to shreds and his beard was ripped out, He was spat upon, hated and jeered, and why? Because He loved people, healed their diseases and heartaches, and because He dared to proclaim Himself as the Messiah, the only way to heaven. He rose from the dead and is in heaven preparing a place for believers. He is the only God to ever proclaim to actually die for his creatoin.

Again, I stress that this swap is for Christians that believe exactly what the paragraph above says.

For the swap, write a letter to your partner telling them about what Jesus Christ as your personal savior means to you. Explain how it feels to have the Spirit of the living God living in your very being. Also, include at least one paragraph in which you talk about how you have been hurt and persecuted by nonbelievers. All true believers will be mocked and shamed because Jesus said that the Cross was an offense to unbelievers. This means that the preaching of the above description offends the unbeliever. It does not mean that a mere symbol of a cross, a necklace, or anything like that. It is symbolism. Here is a link to help those who have not understood what this means.

offense of the cross

You must have at least a 4.8 to participate, and I will be checking profiles. I always angel my own swaps. I will set the swap deadline closer to Easter, so we can be preparing to celebrate His victory over death, hell, and the grave. Prepare your heart to draw closer to Him through the writing of this letter.

Discussion

Kimi 02/ 8/2009 #

Please prepare your heart for people to lash out about this swap. Do not take offense. There is a persecution going on about "offensive swapping" and I'm quite certain there will be lot's of comments here. Praying that there won't-but if so, just say-God is good, All the time!!!!!!

cauchy81sk 02/ 8/2009 #

I don't like the part "Also, include at least one paragraph in which you talk about how you have been hurt and persecuted by nonbelievers". It might be nice to exchange thoughts on faith, one could get an inspiration in this way. But not this.

AngieTheArtist 02/ 8/2009 #

That is your opinion Cauchy, and you are entitled to it. It helps Christians to know they are not alone in their struggles. You could get courage for going on from hearing another person''s struggle.

Kimi, I don't care if people lash out. I am not going to stop my light from shining. Jesus went all the way to the cross for me.

VivaLaDiane 02/ 8/2009 #

What a beautiful swap idea Angie. I hope a mega ton of people join. If anyone does lash out against this, I will be the first one on your side. Kimi doesn't understand that everyone is entitled to their opinions. There have been quite a lot of religious swaps and I haven't seen anyone go against them. As for this swap, I better NOT see anyone say anything. Trust me, I'm here for you.

Kimi 02/ 8/2009 #

Kimi does understand that people are entitled to their opinions. Kimi is a "people" entitled to her opinion and she would NEVER try to tell anyone that they aren't entitled to theirs! Please stop trying to know who I am. You don't. VLD in case you weren't paying attention in the infamous forum in the topic I created, there were MANY people who were lashing out about Christianity and being "offended" by the thought of someone creating a swap-mainly in retaliation to my being offended by someone's crude swap. Give me a break and let sleeping dogs lie.

Angie, I know you could handle it if you did get a lashing, I was just saying that in light of the "lashing" I just got that wasn't really nice, to be prepared. Looks like you have more "friends" here than I do and people who'll back you up in spite of your differences in beliefs.
Being new to Swap-bot, I feel like the beautiful, 16 year old blonde from Florida who just moved to the snobby city of ... and just couldn't fit in, no matter how sweet I was!

Things that make you go hmmmmm.....

BanaeDepp 02/ 8/2009 #

Let the lashing begin....I'm ready!! I love ya Jesus!!

Bearynice 02/ 8/2009 #

You are bound to get negative comments Angie ,especially people saying that everyone is entitled to believe what they want ,which is true, But a Pastor once said to someone who said christianity is a lot of crap "After this life is over, If what you say is correct then I have lost nothing BUT if what I believe is correct YOU have lost every thing .

BanaeDepp 02/ 8/2009 #

The lashing does go both ways.....We need to practice the love of Christ ....not hate...no matter the situation or swap..LOL... God loves All!! So should we....I pledge to be nice!! :)

Kimi 02/ 8/2009 #

I'm sorry Angie, I truly didn't intend to continue the discussion on your swap page. I didn't realize I'd rock the boat by offering a kind word to you. I've replied to the one I think needed to hear from me privately so as not to continue this mess here. Best wishes on your swap!

Stefanija 02/ 8/2009 #

This is a great swap idea.. and I am 100% behind it.. I am putting this on my watch list...:)

grannylove60 02/ 8/2009 #

Angie, You have my support 100% Everything in that paragraph is the truth!!! I believe in Jesus Christ as my personal savior and HE IS the only way! You know what is offensive to me? I am new here and was shocked how much pagan stuff is going around here. Pagan is worshiping the devil, no if..ands..or buts about it!! But, I just keep my mouth shut and stay clear of those pagan people. Same goes here. If they don't like christianity and don't believe what we believe, all they have to do is keep their mouth shut and stay clear. They can go on living their sinful life and we will live ours through Jesus Christ!! Btw, this is a wonderful idea and I just finished signing up:) We christians have got to stick together and stand up for what we believe:)

Magpieandluna 02/ 8/2009 #

Im in for the True Fight for Christ

euphoria 02/ 8/2009 #

Um...critterlove57? Pagans don't believe in "the devil" and most certainly do not "worship the devil."

http://www.religioustolerance.org/paganism.htm

tkichinka 02/ 8/2009 #

Critterlove--I must say, people shouldn't open their mouth or comment on things they know nothing about. Please do some research before criticizing others beliefs. Secondly, the only person who should be doing ANY judging is God and Jesus. Thirdly, if you want your beliefs respected, as any one would, please do the same for others. Jesus didn't teach hate OR ignorance.

tkichinka 02/ 8/2009 #

One of Jesus' commandments was love your neighbor as you would yourself! He also broke bread with sinners and said those who are without sin cast the first stone!

AngieTheArtist 02/ 8/2009 #

Ladies, I appreciate all of the comments. I want you all to tell all your friends about this swap. You know on judgement day, that we will be held accountable for every word that comes out of our mouths. We know that the bible teaches us that if "We confess Christ before men, then Jesus will confess us to the Father", and that if we "Deny Jesus before men, He will deny us before the Father". Ladies, let's not be guilty of of being ashamed of our Master and King. He is the great I AM, he is not the great I was, or the great I will be, but He is an ever present God in time of trouble or need. He is our comforter, our friend. He gives us such an inner peace.

Let's remember to love our brothers, our neighbors and even the enemies of the cross. Remember that if our enemy is hungry, we are to feed him. If he is thirsty, we are to give him drink. Let s enjoy this swap, and truly be praying about our witness for Christ. Let's pray that our love for others will be truly from the heart, and not some religious contest. Remember that satan has blinded the minds of people in this world, and it is our job to pray for them. We must love them. Even when they hurt us, let's pray for God to enable us to love them more.

Let's pray for our eyes to see a hurt and dying world like Jesus sees it.

Let's pray for our ears to hear like Jesus' ears hears.

Let's pray for our hearts to love others like Jesus loves them and is just waiting on them to say Yes Lord-to thy will and to thy way.

We are soldiers of the Cross and this is the end times. Jesus wants to bring in the harvest of souls. Oh how he loves you and me. Oh how he loves us all. Remember, how God loves all the world so much that he sent his only begotten Son to die, so all could be saved. Salvation is a free gift for any and all. There is not anyone who Jesus does not love and will not save. His mercy endures forever and ever. Don't lose heart, little children, cling to the One and Only King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Take up your Cross, endure the pain like a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Dont' take our eye off of the prize. We will soon join the angels in heaven who sing Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord our God. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised!!!

AngieTheArtist 02/ 8/2009 #

Also, I will be advertising this to the people in the Praying Christians group.

AngieTheArtist 02/ 8/2009 #

Ladies, please remember what I said about the persecution. The enemiy can make things seem different by posting a little bit of the truth and mixing it with deception. Let's keep our eyes on the prize. If you see someone posting negative things about me on this thread, then I ask you to just go to God and pray about it and make sure you have peace before joining this swap. Ask God to reveal to you the real truth. If the Holy Spirit lives in you, a true witness will bear witness to your spirit.

AngieTheArtist 02/ 8/2009 #

And I don't mean any of the people that have commented so far either. I just deleted a comment from this person.

grannylove60 02/ 8/2009 #

Angie you are so right! I am sorry for my previous post. I am sure you know what I meant by what I said, but non-believers do not understand where we as christians are coming from and don't understand the truth. Yes, we should all pray for this swaps, the participants, the lost souls of this world and the persecution of our savior, and us as believers. Yes, I agree with you totally. We are supposed to love our neighbors, doesn't mean we have to agree with what they say or believe, but still love all mankind through Jesus Christ our Lord!! From this point on, my mouth will remain shut, lol. Thanks again Angie for hosting this swap:) Love in Christ, Bea

AngieTheArtist 02/ 8/2009 #

Oh dear heart, you know, we are all learning, and we all fail every day. We do make mistakes and falter, but, thank God that the bible says that we have an advocate with the Father that when we do sin, we can get forgiveness. I know you know that this is not a license to sin, but a way of escape when we do falter. As long as we try to learn from our failures, that what matters. Jesus doesn't want us to be prideful and act like we never make mistakes either. I commend you for your bravery.

I thank you for joining this swap. This makes me want to get a letter from everyone.

jdb822 02/ 8/2009 #

Angie, I PMed you.

Invisible 02/ 8/2009 #

Angie, thank you for the invite to join this swap. I truly believe what you wrote in the swap description...and that I am saved by Grace alone...but I can't do this swap right now. I just don't have the time to give it my all and I would not want to give it less than that because God gave His all for me.

CajunLady 02/ 8/2009 #

Hey! While I won't be participating in this swap for obvious reasons, I wanted to let everyone know that I think it's great that there is a swap like this.

AngieTheArtist 02/ 8/2009 #

Thanks so much to all who have posted. I appreciate the support and love. I have learned to really appreciate the love I receive from both my Christian friends on this site, and nonChristians.

I love all of you.

melissableuz 02/ 8/2009 #

People may be biased, but I don't really see myself as "persecuted" as I am not dying for my faith as many are right now in India, Malaysia etc. I do believe it is encouraging though to share ones experience of how anti Christian prejudice- has impacted him/her. Especially since there are so many believers who don't seem to share about these types of things in daily conversation. Also, there are a lot of lukewarm Christians (and I have to watch out for this as well!) who don't experience any thing unpleasant for their faith. From my observation, it's those who don't go out to be a light about the darkness, nor reach out to the "sick". They live, work, and commune with other Christians. I hope I do not have a life where I am preaching to the choir, lol. thanks, looking forward to sharing, Mel

TeaNi 02/ 8/2009 #

You know I love you, Angie; this is a beautiful idea and it's on my watchlist! (I'm always a last minute signer-upper;P)

giraffeandrabbti 02/ 8/2009 #

Hi Angie, I love the idea of this swap but have a lot going on right now and it's not the best time for me to participate. =[ thanks for the invitation anyway!

Swan 02/ 9/2009 #

I have one little question. Where does it say the thing about the beard? I can't find it in the Bible.

I have the swap on my watchlist, too, right now. I'm glad that when the discussion started to become heated, we were reminded to love others.

AngieTheArtist 02/ 9/2009 #

Isaiah 50:6

6I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Swan, I just love the old testament prophecies about Jesus. I really love Isaiah 53 the most. I hope the above scripture answers your question. I am glad you asked it because it challenged me also.

YankeeUnicorn 02/ 9/2009 #

This one is on my watch list:) Thanks for sending me the link:)

Luckyroni 02/ 9/2009 #

I think this is a lovely idea for a swap, but, even being a Christian myself, I have to admit that I am a little offended and embarassed by some of the comments left here. We need to be careful in the way we speak as to not sound condescending or uppity to non believers...just my point of view ;)

AngieTheArtist 02/ 9/2009 #

I am sorry that you have been offended, Luckyroni. That was certainly not my intent. People will never agree with everything. It is hard to find the happy medium and to please everyone. I don't think it is posible either. If you would like to pm me though, I will try to see your point of view.

luvcatzzz 02/ 9/2009 #

hey gang! remember, this is an adult site so if you don't like a swap, then then by diggity, don't join! :-D i've found some of 'em offensive in the past and well, i just don't join 'em. i'm sure the people who joined had a ball and enjoyed them thoroughly and that's so cool! we're all diffferent!

the coolest quote i've ever heard was... go figure... from that stupid movie with kevin coster - er... robin hood. the black dude - oh i love him to pieces and can't remember his name! anyway, this kid asked why he was black. or something like that... and the black dude said 'why, it's because God loves wondrous variety!" isn't that the most awesome quote in the universe? :-D

gosney6 02/ 9/2009 #

I LOVE JESUS and I LOVE ANGIE!!!

AngieTheArtist 02/10/2009 #

I like that quote, Luv, and it is really soooo true. It would be a bland, dull world if we all looked alike. We all have unique personalities and quirks. God knew all along.

I love ALL of you and love Jesus. Remember- He said, "How can you love me who you have not seen when you don't love your brother whom you have seen".

I want to work on my LOVE walk, how about you? (with Jesus' help, of course)

grannylove60 02/11/2009 #

I am so happy to see so many join this swap and some that will join us a little later:) Angie, this is such a wonderful swap idea!!

I owe everyone here a huge apology for the comment I made, both believers and non-believers. I have done alot of praying the past few days and God has spoken to my heart. I know I was wrong and my comment made things concerning this swap go from a little touchy to horrible and hurtful in the blink of an eye. I have made many friends in the short time that I have been a member here, from all aspects of life, beliefs and affiliations. What I said was wrong and I should have never posted such a vicious and hurful statement. I am truly sorry!! I hope we can all get past this and move on to enjoy the friendships and crafty swapping that I for one have come to love and appreciate:)

Angie your strength and faith is such an inspiration for me:) You are such a sweet, caring person. I pray to be more like you:)

luvcatzzz, I love that quote!! I've never heard that before, but that is so true:) What a great answer to give a child:) This world would be mighty dull without the variety in color, language, culture, appearance, personalities, ect. Thanks for sharing:)

AngieTheArtist 02/11/2009 #

Well, honey, I am so glad that you have been spending that time with Jesus. I have been praying too. I love the deep inner peace and sense of wholeness that comes from praying to the creator of all things. It is such a blessing.

grannylove60 02/13/2009 #

Angie, I want you to know that I am definately not baling out of this swap. I have moved it to my watch list temporarily so that I can participate in a couple of post card swaps that are fixing to begin the next couple of days. I had to have an open spot and was at my limit. I WILL be back in here closer to the start date. I wouldn't dream of missing out on this wonderful swap:) In my opinion this is the most powerful swap going on here these days...and probably the most powerful and inspirational swap ever!!!

AngieTheArtist 02/14/2009 #

Thank you so much for saying that, and I completely understand about the swap limits.

halfwaythere 02/20/2009 #

mocked and shamed are strong words; my mind pictures a large group of people surrounding me, yelling, teasing, ...and for the shamed part, it would have to mean ripping off my clothes or something like that [no matter what anyone has ever said to me, I have never been ashamed of believing in Jesus]

I have been left out of things at work, the object of uncalled for comments [again at work] stuff like that. I don't know if that's what you mean though.

ladystumblindummy 02/21/2009 #

i am putting this on my watch list thanks for the beautiful things said about jesus. its about time stood up for him and i for one will keep a close eye on this and will possibly join thanks ladystumblindummy

AngieTheArtist 02/25/2009 #

Halfwaythrere, I don't mean ashamed of Jesus, I mean like you felt ridiculed, or cast aside from a person or a group of people. I can't exactly interpret what I mean but I did not mean to be ashamed of Jesus at all.

Thank you ladystumblindummy, I hope you can join.

LINDA50 03/ 7/2009 #

Angie, beautiful idea for a swap. You explain things so patiently and with the love of the Jesus in your heart.

Matthew 5:10-12 (King James Version)

10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
