πDo you ever receive a letter and wonder "Did she even read my letter?" This is aimed to AVOID those (monologue) types of pals. This is for those looking for dialogue (a two way conversation) style. This swap is for those who: πKeep their pal in mind/profile in mind when writing and truly RESPOND to profiles/letters (in this case, reading their profile and commenting) πLike a 2 way conversation with a pal; asking questions RELATED TO THAT SPECIFIC PERSON πTend to write longer letters. π40+ years of age (there are other swaps for other ages; let's celebrate 40+!) NOT for those who: πsend the same letters/parts to more than one pal π Write like it's a journal/diary entry or a play-by-play of their day πCan't tell who their letter is to by the content πdoesn't ask any questions specifically FOR that partner/pal This is for potential pals who are willing to put in the effort to get to know their partners and see if they're a match for ongoing pen paling.which can lead to wonderful friendships! It's not about just getting something in the mail. It's QUALITY over QUANTITY. πRating based on whether it was obvious that your partner actually read your profile (obvious as in they conversed about multiple topics in your profile; if they did that and sent on time, it's a 5.)β No requirements on length (just a real letter, not a couple paragraphs), or artistic abilities (decorate if you like, but not required), and no stationery or tuck-ins required (include if you like, but make sure it's FOR THEM based on their profile not just random stuff). The requirement is to read the profile and focus on the person you're writing to in your letter and comment on their profile, ask questions about them specifically, etc. Hopefully you will gain a pal or two, but keep trying if you don't get a long term match; it can take several swaps. I usually have a monthly swap like this for those of us that are about QUALITY over quantity!! (And I have "met" some AWESOME friends here--sometimes they join these!) π€·ββοΈYou can be new or seasoned, but you MUST have a well filled-out profile about YOU to join this swap. If your profile is not something that would be a good conversation starter, it's not meant for this swap. If it has want lists and "things I like" do not count as conversation starters. Spending paragraphs talking about ratings, or if the profile has been added to repeatedly instead of edited makes it too difficult to follow for this. Suggestions/Tips for successful letters in general in case it's helpful for anyone new to this concept: Focus more on who you're writing to and less on yourself. Think of NEW topics (avoiding politics, etc). Ask questions SPECIFIC TO THE PAL/their profile. Use paragraphs; each new topic=a new paragraph. Write about multiple topics. |
