Declutter, use or purge, Electronic swap

Today I found an big envelope full of memo sheets or notes that were written to me. I hoarded them to save the cute images on the memo sheets. I cut all the cute useable images out and they filled 2 business sized envelopes. I am purging them. The two partners I get will each get an envelope. I didnt want MORE of these so I didnt want to do a swap where I got MORE stuff.

All aboard? I might declutter more tomorrow.

Since my girls are in high school now, I decided it was time to declutter and purge their area of the craft room. They have long been getting into my stash, and left the kiddie crafts behind. I loaded 2 huge boxes with craft kits, foam kits, felt kits, kids paints, paint cups, melty beads and forms, coloring books, crayons, tracing boards, die cuts, wood frames and shapes to paint, stickers, glitter paints, puff paints, their rubber stamps, construction paper....all of the things!!! I ended with two large boxes and I offered them for free on our local buy nothing group and gifted them to two families with kids. I will be making another box soon!

I have been collecting "paper" for all types of journals for many years and at one time I thought I would enjoy making full size quilts and of course bought lots & lots of fabric. I am purging most of my paper and all my fabric with supplies as I don't seem to be working crafts in this area......Also sending the quilt books, I have collected. All of my unused items will go to the Hope Center (the only thrift store we have)

I have spent the past 2 days organizing my "finished project" pile in order to make room on my craft table to start Halloween crafting. I came across a random box that was unlabeled and I was thrilled to find a stash of Tim Holtz idea-ology items that I bought for 40% off at Joanne's last Winter when I was out of town (we don't have a Joanne's where I live). I have been itching to create an altered book rolodex, so I started it last afternoon and just finished it now.

I also found a stack of old CD label sheets (remember those?) that haven't been used in a decade, but I was saving them to make stickers - well, I kept a few but got rid of a lot of them by taking them into work and giving them to my crafty co-workers!

@Rabbitfreedom I am so thrilled to hear about your Joann's Tim Holtz find. I just love stories like that.

I too have an excessive amount of fabric. BOXES and bins excessive, but I do seem to go to an extreme with things. Hence my craft hoarder pack rack, label.

I am hoping to create quilts again, so I am not purging that right now.

Last night I went through another very large plastic shoe box. I put the note cards, with envelopes, and the stuff in the right places. I made a new category. " I just want to keep this for later". It appears that this new category might be the occupant of the once full very large plastic shoe box. It is very empty now.

BUT I found in this box the Sunflower seed packets from my daughters Wedding in March 2020. I thought I had planted those already. I put them in my desk drawer. I will plan them this SEPT

I didn't declutter craft stuff. I have crafts, but not a craft room. Do you? I decided to declutter my boys dresser and clean their room. They share a room. It took awhile to get it all done, but it looks so much better.

We took them school clothes shopping. I knew they had clothes in their dresser that have been in there for awhile, so I cleaned it out and going to donate to the salvation army. 4 bags of the kitchen size. Yes, they had alot and now they have some empty drawers. I kept procrastinating and finally got it done. I kept some clothes items that still fit them and some of the clothes that the oldest outgrew went to the youngest. Only a couple though. Most donation. You know how things end up under beds. At our house things do. There is no more.

I hope there are more of these swaps. It will help motivate me to declutter more. Like a whole room, kitchen cupboards, hutch junk drawers, kids toy box....etc. We have alot of treasures that need to be donated or junk that needs to be trashed.

In the past there was another host a few years ago that did a declutter swap. I remember cleaning out my make up and hair products area and the hall cabinet that has the meds, the bandaides, the back up bottle of shampoo, or lotion. Often it has items that my daughter bought and then gave up on. Hard to throw it away. But eventually we did.

I will think about hosting more of the declutter stuff, since this a craft hoarder group, I might do the declutter as a public swap.

Today I cleaned out my closet and my dresser drawers. I got rid of anything, that didnt make me happy, I havent worn since I obtained it, or it didnt fit right. I kept all my jeans because I didnt want to try them on. Its too hot here.

I have 2 garbage bags full of clothes and a few pillow cases. I had room in the box, that I was packing to move, so I went to clean out the linen closet.

It does look like the 5 of us that are in the swap have posted about decluttering.
