Description:

Welcome to the Superfluous Sock Yarn Swap 2007!

Us sock knitters always have a plentiful supply of sock yarn. Let's face it - it's a safe bet when you're yarn shopping, isn't it?! However, if you're anything like me, there will always be some neglected yarn in your stash that's just begging to be knit up into a pair of socks.

In this swap, you will pick out some sock yarn from your stash and send it onto a loving home.

NOTE: I will not be posting updates on Swap-Bot. Please go to the Swap homepage for news.

The Rules:

  • You must send your pal enough sock yarn from your stash to make 1 matching pair of adult socks

  • No acrylic. Natural fibre or natural fibre blends only (eg 75% wool 25% acrylic).

  • Unused yarn, in good condition only. You cannot send your pal something that you've already played with, or something that the dog has chewed on.

  • Only members with a feedback score of 4 or above may sign up. I will have to be mean and ban anyone from the swap that signs up with less than that. Newbies are more than welcome, but please drop me an e-mail to let me know when you sign up.

FAQs:

Q: Who can join?

A: Anyone with feedback of 4 or more! (or newbies that also e-mail me upon sign-up.) I welcome international swaps - it is a great chance to get to know someone from far away!

Q: How much yarn should I send?

A: Please take the time to check the yardage and ensure it is enough to make an average sized adult pair of socks.

Q: How will I know who my pal is?

A: After sign-up closes Swap-bot will e-mail you asking for you to log in and view your pal's name and address.

Q: What happens if I can't send my package by 18th May?

A: Please do not sign up unless you can commit to this deadline. That said, I will completely understand if life gets in the way and you need a bit of extra time. Just drop me and your pal an e-mail as soon as possible!

Q: I have allergies. How can I tell my pal?

A: If you have specific requirements that you feel your pal ought to know, please drop me an e-mail at swapATindieknitsDOTcom and I will let your pal know.

If you have any other questions please click on the contact link or e-mail me at swapATindieknitsDOTcom.

That appears to be a large amount of yarn - Socks that Rock is 360 yards - are we to send 3 skeins of a normal sock yarn, and 2 of one that you would usually use 1 to make a pair of socks?

indieknits 04/18/2007 #

Hi,

I'll change that, as 360 yds is plenty for a pair.

Thanks for pointing it out!

Laura :)

Yay! I have SO MUCH YARN,

I'm wondering if unused yarns that have already been wound into a centerpull ball are okay. Assuming you include the ball band of course.

Just wanting to check, thanks!

Hi Lexy,

That's fine - as long as fibre content and yardage is included.

Laura :)

My feet are huge too - but I've yet to attempt a pair of toe-ups...will have to give it a go!

I should also say that hand-dyed is also allowed (that's what I'm considering sending) as long as it is of a good standard.
