National Library Week in the US is celebrated April 23-29 this year! Thanks to @ultracinematik for the great idea to celebrate the occasion with a swap! 📚💜❤️ Send 1 partner a library-themed surprise--it can be a postcard or notecard or other piece of happy mail (storebought or handmade with library love). Include a sentence or two (or more) about how you like to celebrate National Library Week -- for example, by checking out a banned book, checking out extra books and items to enjoy (to help boost your library's circulation stats!), sharing a kind thought with your library staffers, leaving a book you love in a place where a stranger will find it, donating a book to a teacher's classroom library, finally returning that library book that was hard to let go of, etc. NOTE we will be sending our swaps DURING National Library Week, which also means that the mailing period will be shorter for this swap, Mon. April 24-Mon. May 1 Extras are not necessary, but if you want to add something special that you think you will make your partner smile, feel free. Don't forget to include your username and the name of the swap, and please remember to rate promptly. As the swap organizer, I reserve the right to remove any user from the swap if there are any potential issues that need to be cleared up (such as recent late/missing swaps); please don't take it personally but know that I'm just trying to keep the swap safe for group members--once issues are cleared you will be welcome to join future swaps. As usual, please do let me know (by PM) if you are unable to resolve things with your partner and/or have any questions or concerns. Celebration Days During National Library Week (in case you were wondering) -- Monday, April 24: Right to Read Day, the State of America's Libraries Report is released, including Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2022. Tuesday, April 25: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers. Wednesday, April 26: National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day), a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are. Thursday, April 27: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries. |
